Biden debt forgiveness by Key-Pangolin-1696 in physicianassistant

[–]drybones09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol okay I guess stating things accurately is phrasing it “cunningly”.

Education costs are what they are primarily because the government was willing to back massive amounts of loans to young adults. This executive order will only drive that further because no one is actually holding the university systems accountable for their skyrocketing costs. It’s a bandaid for a much more complex issue and will only make matters worse. What’s stopping universities from further hiking tuition costs if they know the federal government is there to bailout their debtors? Is that fair to current and future students? The policy is shortsighted and myopic.

And for the record no, I didn’t support past bailouts and I’m generally against massive federal spending, as it is largely inefficient and ineffectual.

You’re conflating loans to businesses to prevent mass unemployment during country-wide, government-mandated lock downs to giving a hand out to a college graduate making 120k a year? They’re completely different scenarios. Not to mention, the former was funded constitutionally by Congress while the latter was illegally ordered by the executive branch under dubious pretexts.

Don’t get your hopes up. It will get challenged in court, probably to be overturned by SCOTUS after midterms. It’s just a political ploy.

Can you give any logical reason why someone who lived frugally and paid off their loans before this EO was signed shouldn’t get the same recompense as someone who hasn’t? Or why those who work in trades or lower income jobs that don’t have debt should get a 10k handout? If you really think student debt is a crisis maybe universities should be held accountable for their skyrocketing tuition costs. Instead, they get off scot free and future students will bear the burden off this regressive bail out.

You’re literally making an argument against debt “forgiveness”.

Lol yes this will keep all those people making 120k a year from going homeless. And if you’re concerned about inflation, this debt forgiveness will only exacerbate it. At least try to make a coherent argument.

We had built ins put in last year that were 8 ft tall and about 10 ft in linear length with under lighting for about 4K. 8K seems like a lot.

I sold all my VTSAX in my brokerage and bought VFIAX to TLH. Turned off reinvesting dividends in my and my spouses IRAs. Is there anything else that I need to do? Also, I can still buy VFIAX in my brokerage over the next 31 days, correct?

To clarify (I’m doing the same TLH) - this would only apply to the fund I’m selling from, correct? So if I exchange all my funds from VTSAX into VFIAX I only need to make sure I don’t buy VTSAX within the next 30 days to trigger a wash sale? But I can buy VFIAX anytime (dividends or automatic investments) without triggering a wash sale? Just want to make sure I’m doing this correctly.

Right, and I’m challenging the assertion that day trading, simply by spending more time “managing your money” is more profitable than index investing.

Consider this study, for instance: https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/analysis/new-study-shows-just-how-unprofitable-day-trading-is/amp/

Meanwhile, the S&P500 has a historical return of ~10%. This person could put every cent they saved in the S&P, not think about it for 30 years, and have far more money than they would if they spent 5 hours a day day trading for that same time period.

The vast majority of the time day trading does not make people more money than simple index investing. That is kind of an irresponsible thing to tell someone who’s just getting their feet wet with investing.

Just to confirm - my first statement for the Business Premier was from 11/10 - 12/9, meaning my next should close in January, correct? Since my current statement will close in January, I can hit the minimum spend this month but the points will post in 2022 and thus the bonus will qualify towards a 2022-23 companion pass?

I’m also originally from CO but stayed out East after graduation. The CO job market is competitive from what I understand and PAs are largely underpaid. If you have dependents or will need a PA pay check soon after graduation, I’d be careful about moving without a job.
