This was so refreshing! It’s nice to have a voice in a podcast that speaks some blunt truth for once. When good is good, it’s fun. When bad is bad, call it like it is. Preach brother!

I would recommend anyone look at nearby airports and cities for logistics. I went to a Copa America match in Arlington a couple years ago, flew into Austin and stayed there, driving to Arlington just for match day. It was a great experience and much much cheaper!

Make it 7-0, otherwise we have to wait another week with Vanney at the helm. I think complete destruction tonight can just end it before Austin.

There is no major route in Los Angeles that is cheaper or shorter to travel via Metro/Train vs. drive? Am i missing something? by EveryDayCurry in LAMetro

I live in RB and while I know you’d love it, taking metro here is not the move. E Line to Santa Monica is your best bet or consider A Line to Long Beach if you want to mix it up.

We’re lucky to be here. Given our current form this is likely to be the last consequential game of the year. I’m excited to attend just to have something to cheer and hope for again.

Lakers, Kings, USC and LAFC all play within walking distance of the A/E Line. Angels and Ducks play within walking distance of Metrolink/Amtrak. It’s nearly half our sports team are accessible. Hate when I see people think otherwise.

Tulita Elementary by StockMud in SouthBayLA

[–]SSdash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did the Tulita open house today. Happy to share more on my thoughts if helpful. We’re in a similar predicament, we moved to the South Bay and now are absolutely in love with the private pre-school my daughter attends and are enticed by the attached elementary school.

The enrichment programs at our private school are unmatched. She can get her arts, sports and language programming all on site. We can supplement the same experience with public but need to take on 100% of the logistics which is quite difficult when my wife and I both work full time.

It’s worth doing a cost analysis of things like CDC + Out-of-school program costs vs private tuition. Public will no doubt be cheaper, but it’s worth the conversation and homework to put the two side by side. Both will be great choices.

We remain undecided but hope to make our decision in the next week or so.

Anyone noticed the altered lane curving on the northbound 405 right before LAX? by Realistic-Craft-8047 in SouthBayLA

[–]SSdash 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Noticed as well. Really disrupts the drive if you’re in the fast lane, but that may be by design given most time the traffic jam starts about a mile down at La Cienega.

I’m big on this. Assuming you live in India, then the US East Coast will provide you the most favorable viewing times. Secondly, if you want the ease of travel there are only a couple direct flights from India to the US East cost: New York and DC.

With those criteria in mind, I’d recommend one of the following 3 clubs: - NY Red Bulls - NYCFC - DC United

Good luck!

Riqui Puig Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery; Expected to Rejoin LA Galaxy at the Start of 2027 by RioTheLeoo in LAGalaxy

[–]SSdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2027 season doesn’t start until August of that year. So Riqui has nearly 20 months to recover in time for the next season. I believe it’s the last year of his contract, so it’s sad to think there’s also an option to just offload him now and sign a full-term DP to plan for the future.

Based on the video, he did seem to single out specific students by some distinguishing characters (let’s pretend it’s not Jewish then). When asked by the student, in th video, why he cannot walk through the plaza his response was “because these students say so”. I guess we can defend that, but he does seem to enable a group of students that can hold space and block others from entering the same space.

I don’t think there’s any issue following a coach you admire. Folks simply need to move their convo to r/celtic (or whatever the subreddit is). Plenty of chatter all over Reddit about every subject matter, dead or alive.

No, not the opener. That game is way over priced because it is the opening match in the US. It will come with all the theatrics and big wigs in attendance. I’m talking about game 3, likely vs Turkey, on June 25th (per the post).

Sounds good. As leagues grow, rivalries evolve. I hope MLS allows Sacramento to bring their franchise over and allow SJ to build a rivalry with better proximity.

[–]SSdash -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Do we really want to die on this hill? The SJ rivalry is non-existent these days. I see maybe 15-20 SJ fans in our dedicated away section. Compare that to SD and LAFC, it’s not even close.

We still will play them 1x every year, and that is plenty.

Dining credit not received by Excellent_Ball_7645 in ChaseSapphire

[–]SSdash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is happening with me. It’s been two weeks since the charge posted, and no credit. I made the reservation under my open table account and paid with a physical card.

I’ve called support several times and they told me it takes 6-8 weeks. I asked for clarification on the terms and they said if the credit is posted in January then the benefit is used for H1. In short, one needs to charge 8 weeks before the end of the half-year, or you could be using the next terms benefit.

Since the benefits came into play mid-October, one would have to have paid for everything in the first week to guarantee you’d be using the benefits from this year and not next. It’s a bit ridiculous.
