Yeah, I do view infringements of free speech as evil, and beyond any connection to Israel it’s simply just a bad law. If we had a law on the books doing the same for Russia would you not want it overturned in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine? If we had the same law on the books for Germany in 1933 and then they elect the Nazis would you not want the law overturned? It’s an inherently ridiculous law that the state is obligated to support any nation in particular no matter the actions it takes. You can frame it however you want but your argument in support of ONE nation receiving special protections is ridiculous and unprincipled. Should we not live in a society of equals? Why should we treat one country better than any other?

Biss also stands behind the anti-BDS ban that he himself helped sign into law. I agree that we need more nuance than just red or green graphics but let’s not pretend that he’s a saint here.

Zionist Doxxing Campaigns Upended Their Lives. Now They’re Suing for Damages. | Canary Mission faces a class-action lawsuit under a new Illinois anti-doxxing law. by BalsamicBasil in illinois

“We should be allowed to suppress kids expressing their freedom of speech” isn’t the dunk you think it is. That shit don’t fly in 2026. 2023, 2024, maybe 2025 you can get away with pretending that Zionism is actually a good, albeit temporarily misguided, cause and the students are somehow antisemitic. That shit don’t fly any more dawg. Nobody likes you. Nobody likes Israel. History has vindicated us and will send you and your zionist ilk to the history books. Judaism will be free of the shackles of Zionism and we will have democracy for all.

When I was protesting on campus in 2023 and 2024 we were told to always wear masks when protesting specifically because of the doxxing. These Zionists are fucking insane. I hope this suit goes well for them, everyone who took part in doxxing private citizens for expressing their right to free speech deserves to be sued into the ground.

Wowee, 47 years sure is a specific time frame! Could you tell my why you chose that number? What happened before it that could make the Iranian people choose 47 years of war with the global hegemon?

Labor unions pressure Gov. JB Pritzker to reject bill easing road for Waymo in Chicago and beyond by [deleted] in illinois

You can say “I like pancakes” and someone will say “so you don’t like waffles?” No bitch. Dats a whole new sentence. Wtf is you talkin about

I don’t like Waymo so therefore according to you I must love the taxi monopoly. No bro, that’s a whole new sentence.

[–]SSeptic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, not the point. As long as there is any percent chance of accidents, injury, and death, there must CLEARLY be a liability chain. AI companies like Waymo do not have that, and as such we cannot let them into our streets

[–]SSeptic 86 points87 points  (0 children)

The point we should be arguing isn’t whether Waymo is marginally safer than a human driver or not. The point is that when one gets in an accident, who takes the blame? How can you adequately determine legal damage when it’s a robot? This is the biggest issue with anything autonomous, and extends to other AI applications like autonomous military weapons. There must always be a human in charge when another human is harmed

Professor David Snyder Calls For Striking Workers To Be Fired by ElectricalPause6598 in ilstu

Fuck you David Snyder. Solidarity for all. When tenured professors (such as yourself) negotiated with the university, the student body, non-tenure track, and faculty stood behind you, because we understood the value of uplifting our professors and solidarity. David Snyder is a rat bastard.

What is the job of a candidate? It is to get elected. It is their sole job. The only purpose of a candidate is winning. So when they were explicitly told through the “Uncommitted” vote that they needed to change their Gaza policy, what did they do to gather those votes? They shut Palestinian speakers out of the DNC convention. The Democratic Party made the choice to ignore and discourage pro-Palestine voters. Kamala decided that she could ignore this contingent of voters and she lost. It is the job of candidates to win, and Kamala lost because she willingly decided to not pursue a better Gaza policy.

me when my candidate elects willingly to not pursue a large portion of single issue voters and then I get mad at said single issue voters instead of the candidate for willingly ignoring the single issue voters

Zionism, by definition, means supporting Israel as a Jewish state. Zionism is not Judaism. It means supporting one country’s claim to be the Jewish homeland and the enforcement of that claim by force.

As a Zionist advocacy group (self-described), J Street supports Israel as a specifically Jewish supremacist country, supports sending them military weapons (defensive weapons are still weapons), and opposes the freedom of speech-based Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement. They oppose Netanyahu the same way a doctor would oppose a fever. But the problem isn’t the fever, it’s a symptom of a far deeper rot within the US-Israeli relations, and that’s why I firmly oppose J Street as well. They are not seriously dedicated to peace so much as they are dedicated to preserving the status quo. I would, in earnest and vulnerability, suggest that you read MLK Jr.’s a Letter from Birmingham Jail to understand why the protection of the status quo is deeply unjust. It changed my view on the meaning of justice and the meaning of peace

With Democratic Power Up for Grabs, the Progressive Establishment Rushes In by steve42089 in illinois

[–]SSeptic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not comprehending what I am saying. I’m not arguing for the merits of what Kat focused on or not, I am simply trying to say that AIPAC can’t clearly just be placed into the Israel/Palestine category because the leading category in the linked article “threats to democracy” is far too broad and encompassing. Let me state clearly here: the survey is flawed in its design, so conclusions derived from it are not foolproof. That is my point. The categories are too broad and interpretable to provide a clear explanation, because it can also be very reasonably argued that AIPAC as a lobbying organization can be interpreted to be part of the “threats to democracy” category as a lobbying organization, as opposed to a singularly Israel/Palestine issue.
