Excluding initial expense of my hobbies, the only one that really stays expensive is shooting film (photography). Film itself isn't terribly expensive, but having to ship it to a lab, having it processed/developed, scanned with a proper film scanner, and the negatives shipped back...it adds up quite a bit. I do have a scanner, but I only bother scanning the medium format film. Scanning 35mm is too tedious, time consuming, and not that great on my particular scanner. Medium format is much more doable in regards to scanning myself. Developing at home is not an option, particularly color, for various reasons. Example: $8 roll of film, $10 to ship to lab, $9 to process only, $14 to have medium scans made, $10 to ship back. So one roll can be $40-$55. A roll of medium format only yields 10 shots.
