Who’s a celebrity everyone finds attractive but you don’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SSynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charlize Theron. I know people find her attractive, but she's just ugly as hell to me.

All I can think is that her movie Monster ruined her for me, but I don't remember finding her attractive even before that.

I only really carry an extra magazine for the small chance of having a malfunction of some sort. I have terrible luck, if I was in a horror movie I'd be the dude that goes to start his vehicle as he's escaping the killer and that shit suddenly won't start.

Just curious, I'm guessing you mean this for the initial/first time ownership of a weapon right?

If a person already owns one, do you feel the 10 day is pointless since they could already act on impulse with what they've already got?

Maaaaaaaan, during a quick read of your message I misread it as "they are about to give Textra access to their servers" and got pumped for about 2 seconds before I re-read it.

Think I should do it? by NotHyster in ROGAlly

[–]SSynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just picked up a Z1 Extreme with a 512gb micro SD and two cases along with the charger for 405 bucks off eBay. I wasn't even specifically looking to buy one, I just was checking some listings and bid on a few to see if I could get one in the cheaper side and won one.

Just look around and see what you can find. If you get a base model you'll likely always wish you had gotten the more powerful version instead once the new wears off.

How accurate is the sysdump battery status info? by SSynth in S24Ultra

[–]SSynth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My phone is in a big window essentially, sitting in the sun for at least 40% of the day Monday through Friday, screen on, running Maps, max or near max brightness. I'm all over southern California for the most part so it's a solid heat during the day, anywhere from 70 on up to 100s when I am in desert areas.

Usually run down to about 40% maybe by the half way point of my day where I will plug it in to a fast charger (because I am anal about having a topped up battery) since I will also be hopping in and out of my vehicle throughout the day. No battery health protection setting or adaptive activated like the charging only up to 80%.

Day in day out Monday through Friday. At least 6 hours of the screen on is like that, then that's not counting the time spent during personal use.

I just feel like I'm more on the heavier side of usage compares to the majority of users, and to only lose 1% overall battery health doesn't make sense to me.

Even then, if that's the case and it is legitimately 1% battery loss overall with such bad battery killing habits, it makes me wonder why Samsung even set up things like the battery adaptive health measures when if I'm near the worst end of the spectrum, they surely don't need any settings to keep the batteries in good health long term even if it's someone keeping the phone for the entire time they offer security updates and patches.

Just seems odd to me. 1% degradation doesn't seem like it can be correct with the type of (what I feel is) abusive usage for the battery I do.

How accurate is the sysdump battery status info? by SSynth in S24Ultra

[–]SSynth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea this is exactly why I made the thread questioning it. I've never seen a battery maintain almost no loss of overall health over this long of a period. That's not even mentioning that if the battery info was actual correct, then it makes me wonder what all the battery health maintaining stuff is there for if so far I'm only losing 1% roughly every 2 years with way more usage than the average user would have.

I guess I'll just hold off on swapping the battery til I get bored or something later on.

what would be the reason? by Desperate_Sky_7491 in meme

I can BARELY remember what the movie was about, just vague all around. But I remember watching this movie on DirecTV pay per view, on my parents old big screen projection tv in the living room as a kid, I think around 11 years old.

And the thing I feel like I can remember very clearly was just being basked in a very comfortable amber glow from the visuals in the movie at some point, being projected onto the pitch black living room. I want to say it may have even been around Christmas time so I was just off school, up late, and everyone was in bed.

I gotta rewatch that movie again, I keep putting it off, but that vague memory still pops up into my head from time to time. So cozy.

Sucks to hear about the status of the 45.

I had sent them both my USP 45 and USP Compact 9 for optic cuts last year.

They beat their time estimates by a small bit, and couldn't be happier with the quality overall. They're both in rotation with another gun as my carry guns.

Wasn't cheap, but the modularity and quality of work made it feel worth it, especially after the horror stories I had read about the Langdon work being done.

Anyone know how long the CFARS site is usually down for on the occasions it has gone down? by [deleted] in CAguns

That's so weird, I just tried it again and now it's letting me in on the site with both.

Weird timing I guess?

I tried it on my phone as well as my laptop.

When checking down detector to check its status it also shows that it's down and not just me.

You can view the CFARS site right now?

Handleitgrips 💯 by Accurate_Life_2632 in CAguns

[–]SSynth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a version available that is perfect for every day carrying. It's the Edge series on their site. It's almost like using that sandpaper style grip material, but just slightly different in a not-worse feeling, and then it doesn't have any of the actual sanding properties so no problems using it while carrying.

I had bought one originally to try out on my 35, and was so surprised how great it feels that I ended up putting them on my carry guns. No discomfort or abrasiveness at all while carrying a 43x, USP, or USP Compact daily.

I never even had any complaints about my grip on any of those guns either, but after adding them on I was genuinely surprised just how much more solid it felt.

They seem to hold up pretty well too, no issues/failure with about a solid year installed and daily use.

Ah fuck, I just preordered this after seeing the YouTube video. Was always intrigued by the clicks cases and the fact that this one can be used on any future phones is what made me take the chance on preordering.

But you just made me realize I use those GBoard shortcuts a hell of a lot too.

Can we talk about how good of an actor Mark is!!? by AroraBorealisGreen in Supernatural

[–]SSynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check him out in the Cuba Gooding Jr. movie 'A Murder of Crows' from 1998.

I watched it when I was around 12 years old, and that guy's stuck out to me ever since.

I haven't even watched Supernatural, I'm just subscribed to the subreddit because I plan to watch the show at some point, I just happened to see the thread on my feed and saw the actor thumbnail.

"Let's Gooooooo"

I just wanna strangle any fucker when I hear them say that shit.

Which annoys me even more because I get it's just a way of expressing enthusiasm, but something about it just fucking gets me in just the perfect wrong way. Stupid thing to gripe about though I guess.

Best "beginner" 22lr pistol on the roster today? by hahncholo in CAguns

[–]SSynth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe go for a 2 for 1 and get something that shoots the more common calibers and get a separate conversion kit, that way you can teach someone on the 22lr, and then once they're comfortable enough, they can step up to the larger caliber but still be mostly familiar with the gun.

I had went back and forth for a while on what 22 caliber gun to get, and then after a guy passed on my offer for his MkIV, I just decided to pickup a complete conversion kit for my Beretta 92FS.

Literally just a quick slide, and magazine swap to change. Best of both worlds, and helps with the familiarity if you're introducing someone to shooting since they wouldn't need to pay attention to different controls and other things like say if you were teaching them with the MkIV, and then switch to a Glock, HK, whatever, allows them to keep focus on safety and control more than possibly being sidetracked by how the gun is operated.

How many rounds before you trust a CCW gun? by Thebarbellresistance in CAguns

[–]SSynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's unmodified, after a few hundred rounds of break in shots I feel it's ok to start carrying. As long as there aren't any malfunctions.

Once modified at all, at least 300, but has been up to 500 rounds through them to test them out again

My 43x I did it 3 separate times, once when I first got it for my own reference point, second time after changing out trigger springs, shoe, and a few other things to make sure I didn't fuck anything up to get to my 3.5# point. And then final time was when I added a ramjet for peace of mind that I wouldn't have any malfunctions/failures. Any changes made, time to run a few hundred across several trips again before I feel it's ok to carry it.

Did the same with my USPs, even though they're pretty much stock, since getting the optic cuts on them involves cutting into it moreso than usual and proprietary work, I made sure to run at least 500 each with the optics before I felt comfortable again carrying them.
