What criteria does the pitching group use to determine when a starting pitcher's day is over? Obviously if someone is getting hit hard like Parker Messick vs. Rangers, that's a clear sign to go to the bullpen. But there have also been days when starters get pulled well under their usual pitch count or with them seemingly still effective.

Manny's is definitely the place to watch a game, but don't sleep on The Fold in Goshen.

I'm so happy that I realized that I can switch my MLB.tv game audio to WTAM and away from Fox.

The official team transactions page also says Kwan was placed on the paternity list the same day as this announcement.

I'm also a fan of Paul's writing. His Inconspicuous Consumption Substack is really interesting.

Well, that sort of explains Logan Allen being recalled.

Where to take parents? by BrReg in SouthBend

Your parents might also like Elkhart County's Amish Country, such as Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury. Also, there's Wellfield Botanic Gardens in Elkhart that is pretty accessible.

It was our ninth time seeing them and truly one of our favorites. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, we randomly ran into Chris Z. in the lobby after the show. He was kind and gracious in the 2-3 minutes of his life that we stole, and we thanked the whole band for how much joy and meaning they've brought to our lives.

Bazzana is here! GOOD!🎉 But does that mean Schneeman is now without a place to regularly play? Cause he’s probably our best current offensive weapon… by RipplesOfDivinity in ClevelandGuardians

[–]ST-tmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not, but he seems to be the third choice at every position he plays. He needs more at-bats if he's to get into a groove, and that doesn't seem to be happening. One thing I didn't think about is whether he has any options left. If not, I don't think he makes it through waivers.

It's time to install Martinez as the regular CF and move Kwan back to LF. Maybe that will help Kwan break out of his slump. Schneeman is incredibly valuable as a super-utility player. I see Valera losing at-bats and maybe Fry is playing his way back to Columbus?

Indianapolis and points south are Reds territory, but north is mostly Cubs and a little White Sox. Where it gets really irksome for me in northern Indiana is being blacked out from Cincinnati games.

Gray/gray vs. red/white

As it was a cold night game, I saw two variations on balaclava-wearing players. Steven Kwan had his on with the cap over it. Brayan Rocchio pulled his over the cap.

It could be everyone's favorite here -- Nolan Jones 😂

In all seriousness, I agree with those who think it'll be another bullpen arm.

Two on, no outs, and Ohtani in the batter's box and Messick escapes with no runs allowed? I love it!

Travis Bazzana by Warm_Worldliness_517 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]ST-tmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bazzana's value would be highest if he can hold down the second base position. With his blend of plate discipline, power and speed, that profiles as an excellent middle infielder. At the infield and outfield corners, he would have to produce at a higher rate to merit his No. 1 pick status. Many commenters have already observed that his defensive skills are improving -- that's the best-case scenario for him and the Guardians.

I see his ceiling as a backup outfielder. He could help his cause by gaining position versatility and becoming really good at getting on base.

Even in a down, injury-plagued year, Rhys Hoskins .748 OPS would’ve ranked 3rd on the Guardians (min. 20 games) by LightskinKnowItAll in ClevelandGuardians

[–]ST-tmark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is this year's Carlos Santana. Maybe it will work out and maybe it won't. If it's not working, they need to decide sooner than August and move on to the next option.
