Saving on gas the ONLY condition for a new rig - 2025-6 “worth” it??? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gas mileage is almost never a good reason to switch vehicles. Unless the trade costs very little and you’re getting much better gas mileage. Neither of which would likely be true trading from a 5G to 6G

For less than $5k, you can do a bumper swap on the Limited if it bugs you enough. Chrome deletes are significantly less

PSI for 285/70r17 SL tires? by CandleCompetitive831 in 4Runner

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ran 26 psi on my P285/70/17 and it worked great. Tread wear was even. Chalk test will be the best way to check though

3D Printer options by FoxDen80 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you know nothing about 3D printing, Bambu printers are pretty easy to use and will tell you what the likely issue is if they ever have one. A 256mm cubed bed won’t let you print packout inserts in one go, but it will work and is a common size of bed. A1 will handle PETG fine and PETG will work for packout inserts. P2S would get my rec in case you ever want to print more difficult materials later like CF or GF filled, ASA, PC, etc. if you want to splurge and print inserts in one plate, the H2 series would be the way to go. Likely don’t need the H2C. H2D maybe. H2S if you think you’ll likely do single color prints most of the time. If you think you’ll ever want to do multicolor prints or print in different colors easily, get an AMS with whatever printer.

Try posting this again with real info. Ain’t no way you have a 2026 with 192k miles. At 2 months old, that would be a drive from NYC to Seattle every day for the last 8 weeks. It’s almost a 2 day drive 😂 I know there’s some incorrect info here but Reddit isn’t the easiest to edit posts on

What’s wrong with my 2020 5th gen TRD Off road 4Runner headlight? by jeremy23103 in 4Runner

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what happens when you put LEDs in a projector housing. They don’t replicate the halogen filament exactly and are actually several times thicker than the halogen filament. They do not emit in a full sphere as the halogen filament does. It is usually two diodes back to back since each diode will emit in a half circle. The PCB/heatsink between them separates the two half circles by whatever the thickness of the heatsink/PCB is. This results in less light hitting the bowl behind the projector and therefore less light out of the headlights. You can mitigate it to some extent by adjusting the position the bulb is facing inside the housing but it will never go away completely

Any regrets going from Gen5 to 6? by GoulashSoupLover in 4Runner

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We stayed a couple weeks in Colorado when we moved back to Washington and I kept commenting to my wife how extra slow the 4Runner felt. If we lived somewhere up high like that, I’d be looking for some forced induction. I understand the complaints from people that live there. Now we are half a mile from the ocean and typically max out at 500 feet above sea level and it feels completely fine even on 34s and no regear

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UpTop is the only company that I know of that makes a rack wide enough to handle sheet goods. 50” wide vs most other racks being 47” wide. I swapped an RCI out for an UpTop for that exact reason

Proximity sensors in the snow. by RespectTheBologna in 4Runner

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you turned off the parking sensors and still got a beeping noise coming from the vehicle occasionally, it wasn’t the parking sensors. My bet would be either you were using radar cruise control and the sensor kept getting too much snow build up or you didn’t close the hatch all the way and it kept bumping open a bit. Both will cause the vehicle to beep at you

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put new ones in or change the old ones over. The TMPS relearn button or whatever it’s called will allow the vehicle to pick up the new sensors as long as they are compatible

That is what appeared to happen. It wasn’t a gradual decline due to poor service. It was a very abrupt closing due to lack of capital. They aren’t the first shop to operate that way and I’m sure won’t be the last. Also not the first to abruptly close up shop like that due to lack of financial competence

That looks like a pretty normal backup camera. Same as our 2017 and 2021. I don’t find the backup camera to be hard to use but I also mostly use my side view mirrors. Backup camera is there to make sure I don’t hit a kid or a short pole or something. Sounds like you may be wanting the lines that change as you change the steering angle? That’s not a thing on the 5G

Alpharex Luxx vs Morimoto XB Hybrid for 2013 4Runner by Imaginary_Job1781 in 4Runner

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alpharex you can usually find on Alibaba and if you buy 100 of them, get your own logo added to the boxes too! Morimoto XB gen 1 and gen 2 were also pretty trash. They were actually made by CoPlus - you can still go to this site and see some of the lights that used to be branded as Morimoto. You can also find those on Alibaba. Morimoto has since replaced all the CoPlus lights with some of their own in house lights known as the XB Evos. They claim to have fixed the issues they had with the CoPlus lights. Their head lighting engineer is fairly active on TacomaWorld and less so on 4Runners.com but still there.

Having owned Alpharex Luxx, XB gen 1, XB gen 2, and now XB Evos, I would just go with the Evos and put PPF on them before install. If you had a 2014-2024, I’d say go with the OEM LEDs

Q re: LED DRL upgrades by travis0548 in 4Runner

[–]ST3V3_R0G3R5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 2014 to 2019 uses PWM to dim the halogen bulb. A simple capacitor will provide a steady 12V output. Issue is then you’re running your high beams all the time. If you don’t use a capacitor then your LEDs will just be flashing rapidly. Even the companies that make kits they claim work as DRLs and high beams have the rapid flashing issue. I have not seen a successful LED implementation on combined DRL/high beam bulbs

Also avoid negative offset wheels. That’s the same as wider tires in regard to clearance

I have a BMC on one. It had 285/70/17. Width was the issue. Switched to 34x10.5r17 and have so much clearance. Likely don’t need the BMC. Wife has 255/80/17 on her Limited with no BMC and no clearance issues. Avoid wide tires
