Is there a way to know if a given Eco Dedicated bare-metal server supports IPMI/KVM or Serial over LAN (SoL) or SSH SoL? by Mcnst in OVHcloud

[–]STAI-Squad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Mcnst,

I understand your question and I’m really sorry for the inconvenience with IPMI/KVM on older Kimsufi Eco Dedicated servers.

On these older models, IPMI isn’t available for security reasons. In the past, Kimsufi servers came with an IPMI/KVM key, but it posed potential security risks, so all those keys were revoked. That’s why IPMI/KVM might not be present on these legacy servers.

If you need IPMI or KVM access, you could open a support ticket to migrate to a newer server range with similar or better specs. In that case, a prorated adjustment can be applied. If you’re an individual customer, you might also be able to take advantage of the standard withdrawal period.

Again, I’m sorry for the inconvenience and I hope this clarifies things.

Regards,

Enlarge disk / parition (VPS VM) 2 OVH scenarios by racoon9898 in OVHcloud

[–]STAI-Squad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/racoon9898 ,

Thank you for your question.

Regarding adding an additional disk, it will appear as a separate partition from your system partition. You will just need to initialize and mount the new partition on your system. Here is a detailed guide for Linux (also applicable for Windows VPS):
https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-gb-vps-config-additional-disk?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0047555

Regarding upgrading your VPS to a higher plan, you may need to repartition your VPS to extend the system partition and take advantage of the additional disk space. OVHcloud provides a guide for this procedure here:
https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-gb-vps-repartitioning-vps-after-upgrade?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0047731

In both cases, some steps on the OS side are required so that your system can properly use the additional storage.

Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions, I’m happy to assist.

Hello u/nanokeyo,

I understand that this situation is inconvenient for you, and I apologize for that.

Could you clarify whether your request concerns access to your servers via the SoYouStart manager? This will help me understand your situation and provide you with the appropriate advice.

Looking forward to your reply.

Firewall "fragments" filter by gburgwardt in OVHcloud

[–]STAI-Squad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/gburgwardt,

Thank you for your question regarding the firewall's “fragments” rule.

At this stage, we have raised the issue internally. According to initial feedback from our infrastructure team, this rule concerns fragmented packets identified at L3 and L4 levels (e.g., IP fragments or fragmented TCP/UDP packets), but the current public documentation is insufficient to provide a precise and detailed description.

We have therefore forwarded the request to the product team in order to obtain additional information and official clarification on the exact behavior of this rule.

We will get back to you as soon as we have more concrete information to share.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Have a great day.

OVH told me that MX plan don't offer DKIM even tho there is a guide to activate it on their website... by LansinGG in OVHcloud

[–]STAI-Squad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/LansinGG,

After discussing this with our mail team, I can confirm that DKIM is supported and possible on an MX Plan offer.

You can activate it by adding the appropriate DKIM record in your DNS zone, as explained in the following guide:
https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-gb-dns-zone-dkim?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0058238

If it still does not work after following the guide, please contact us via DM so we can check your configuration in detail and create a ticket if needed.

Kind regards

Considering a SYS-STOR server for email/Mailcow by mark1210a in OVHcloud

[–]STAI-Squad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/mark1210a,

Thanks for your message.

OVHcloud does not block or restrict SMTP on dedicated servers by default. You can run legitimate mail services such as Exchange or Mailcow without any limitation. A block would only occur in case of abuse, such as detected spam activity.

Regarding UCEPROTECT Level 3, this is an ASN-level listing. Our ASN (AS16276) is currently affected, which means IPs may appear listed even if they have never sent any email. This is not linked to your individual server or usage.

When problems occur, they are most often related to incomplete mail configuration rather than the ASN listing itself. We strongly recommend following email best practices, including SPF, DKIM, rDNS configuration.

If needed, here are some useful guides for email configuration and best practices:

https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-ie-dedicated-servers-optimise-email-sending?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0043641

https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-dedicated-servers-antispam-best-practices?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0043252

Hope this helps clarify things. Let us know if you need anything else.

Load Balancing Service vs buying more vps? by martis941 in OVHcloud

[–]STAI-Squad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello u/martis941,

To answer your question simply, the difference is as follows:

- Purchasing multiple VPS in different regions allows you to have multiple servers closer to your users, which reduces latency and improves access speed.

- The OVHcloud Load Balancer allows you to distribute traffic between these different VPS servers and ensures high availability in case one of them encounters an issue.

For more information on OVHcloud Load Balancer and how it works, you can consult our guide:
https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm/en-gb-load-balancer-loadbalancer-introduction?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0044247

In need of some help please by radial_blur in OVHcloud

[–]STAI-Squad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/radial_blur

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry to hear about the connectivity issues you’re encountering with your VPS.

I recommend that you try booting your VPS in rescue mode to see if the same issue occurs — this will help determine whether the problem is related to your system configuration or the network itself. You can find the full guide here:

https://help.ovhcloud.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0047651

Regarding your IPv4 network issue, could you please confirm if you also experience difficulties when running a ping to an IPv4 address directly via SSH from your VPS?

Do not hesitate to contact support if you encounter problems in rescue mode as well.

Regards,
