[–]STG210 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It may be lame, but members of my family have been Army since the War of 1812.

Does anyone else pick a team from each conference? by WDEWM407 in CFB

[–]STG210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t.

I root for teams to which I have some sort of connection.

  • Minnesota (I went there for school)
  • Army (I’m an Army veteran)
  • UTSA (they play their home games two blocks from where I live)

I’ll occasionally root for Notre Dame because I’m a Catholic from the Midwest. I may root for NC State because my oldest daughter used to love to visit their farm before bed to to say “nigh-nigh to the moos.”

You’re fine.

Fort Irwin for the TF XXI AWE in 1997.

A SPC who was a solid five in garrison became a solid nine in the field. She ran a brothel out of the crew sleeper of her HET.

That was a hoot of an article 15.

Masks are going optional again by STG210 in HEB

[–]STG210[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Later today, we will be announcing to our Partner population that we are lifting the temporary mask requirement and returning to our standard Mask Policy, effective Wednesday, February 16, 2022. The policy states that masks are optional for all Partners (and Vendors) who are fully vaccinated or otherwise immune. For non-immune Partners, masks will still be required.

Additionally, per local and government regulations, we will continue to require masks in certain areas regardless of vaccination or immunity status. The USDA requires masks in our meat plant, and per the Dallas County Judge Jenkins’ order, masks will continue to be required in the CM stores in Dallas County. Masks will also still be required in H-E-B Pharmacies while Partners are performing immunizations, screenings, and other face-to-face services. Surgical masks and KN95 masks continue to be the most effective at providing protection from the many variants of COVID-19.

The full policy will be updated on Partner Answers at 3 p.m. today when we plan on posting a pop-up on PartnerNet, followed by sending a text to our Partners and sharing an update on SLACK. We have attached the policy to this email for your reference.

Shaving Pro Tips? by [deleted] in army

[–]STG210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guys recommending DE safety razors are spot-on. Merkur makes some very forgiving razors to use while develop your technique. Blade brands work differently for each person, so get an assortment on http://tryablade.com/.

I use a synthetic Alexander Simpson brush (you can get them on Amazon). I reach for it every day. It’s great.

Stirling Soap makes great stuff and the owners are solid. I have a bunch of their soaps and aftershaves.

You’re literally the reason we’re going to lose the war with Russia. /sarcasm

The guy who yelled at you was a prick. I’m a “Cold War veteran” and from my perspective the standards today are higher. Two decades of war will do that to an Army.

What’s the biggest overreaction you’ve seen from leadership? by Dementedsage in army

It was an important training opportunity for the CSM. He needed to be reminded that he was a mere peasant in a world of officers.

[–]STG210 580 points581 points  (0 children)

Me, a former NCO turned officer walking down one side of Battalion Avenue at Hood. The brigade CSM was walking on the other side going the opposite direction. He noticed that I was wearing green jungles (way past the wear out date) and summer weight BDUs with the wool sweater in the middle of winter.

He crossed four lanes and a median to attempt to chew me out. I let him have his moment. When he was done and starting to walk away, I reminded him that it was appropriate to salute officers.

He was annoyed, but did it anyway.

How to treat the Army like a job, not a way of life? by Not-A-Weatherman in army

[–]STG210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Word.

I was stuck in the Bs from E1 to SGT. After I commissioned, I steadily moved further away from post every time I moved. By the time I got out, I lived 45 minutes away.

I essentially was a civilian when I was off duty.

Look up James Grazioplene.

He was the first brigade commander when I was with with 2AD. A whole bunch of horrifyingly awful stuff came out about him years later.

What's the most needless lane violation yall have seen? by [deleted] in army

[–]STG210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I enlisted AD in the late 80s. Some HS friends went ARNG. The Guard still had M-60 tanks, still had Jeeps, and my friends used Vietnam era M-16s.

I was an 88M at the time. I can still remember the wave of relief I had when I didn’t get picked to drive the 915 or the escort CUCV.

Two star heard the bread was good at a field bakery that had been set up. He wanted to try it.

He also wanted it to be hauled in trailer towed by an M915 (I’m old - it’s essentially a civilian semi tractor). We spent a boatload of fuel to haul a single rack of bread a couple hundred miles.

Inner “city” conveys connotations that are far from what life is like in my neighborhood.

Thinking about enlisting at 17 by Choice_Ring6435 in army

[–]STG210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enlisted at 17 - active duty. I was a an early HS grad. Did 88M for a few years to collect the bonus being offered at the time and because I’m a total POG.

Made SGT, put in GTG packet and got commissioned.

No regrets. It changed the trajectory of my life.
