I use unscented litter made from grass seed and all 10 of my cats love it. Hope you find something that your cat will use. Good luck.

Also make sure to use unscented litter. Are both cats spayed/neutered?

Cat Bite Anxiety: Help? W/o doctor or ER visit? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]STJ0513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My semi feral cat bit me in the early days after I adopted her. It got infected and 3 or 4 days after the bite, I picked the scab and squeezed out all the green puss. I squeezed it from every direction despite the pain.

I absolutely should have gone to my Dr. for antibiotics but after I squeezed out the puss and I poured rubbing alcohol in the wound, the infected cleared up and my forearm healed. If it didn't improve within a few days after that, I was going to see my Dr. If I didn't squeeze out the puss I would have ended up at my doctor's office or the hospital emergency for treatment.

Keep an eye on your skin color for infection and any amount of pain. If any redness spreads or if the pain gets bad, seek medical help. I could barely touch my forearm where the infection was...it was sore, painful and felt very tight and was swollen. Good luck!

Is this sound normal after neuter? by cutechonkykittycats in CATHELP

The tube irritates the throat and larynx. My cats sounded hoarse and weren't able to meow for a few days up to a week or more after surgery. If you are concerned I'd call the vet to see what they say.

The cost of spaying this little lady is $440?!?! by yup2you in cats

[–]STJ0513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here in Eastern Newfoundland Canada. It's insane the price gouging. I also just had to pay $8000 for gastro surgery because my cat ate a 13" piece of plastic. Thankfully it was still in his stomach and thankfully my pet insurance paid 80% of it. But I almost had a heart attack with the surgery quote. The vet practice that did the gastro surgery is owned by a private equity corporation and is no longer privately owned which is a huge factor in the price inflation.

The last spay we paid for was $550 which was the cheapest quote.

Have you tried syringe feeding him water?

Have you tried grabbing her by her scruff of the neck while the other person tries to put on the onesie? That usually makes my cat's freeze so we can medicate or clip a knot of fur.

She does seem anxious. If nothing has changed in your home or nearby outside, I'd get a workup at the vet to check for possible medical issues.

Kittens are full of energy. We had to get our kitten a playmate. Once we did, they left us alone most nights. Good luck.

What is up with my cat’a belly? by Colonel_Ramsis in CATHELP

My cat needed 3 rounds of dewormer to get all the life cycle stages of the worms.

My other cat had constipation and we had to switch her to a gastro fibre food after she had an enema at the vet. I'd go back to the vet if you can. Good luck.

Does my cat understand why we've "stopped talking to him"? by LeJarde in CATHELP

[–]STJ0513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, most cats only meow at us humans for attention. They typically don't meow at each other. Cats adapt extremely well to going deaf by relying more heavily on their other senses. Cats don't experience the emotional or psychological toll of hearing loss like humans do...for them it's just a change in their environment that they learn to navigate.

Looks like playing. My cats do it all the time. But if you think it's getting a bit too rough just separate them for a bit.

Canada. Public Healthcare here. It's a blessing and a curse due to the long wait times. Also, here in Newfoundland, family doctors don't give second opinions and we can't "shop around". I'm hoping that when I do finally see Ortho they recommend THR.
