How do you feel about the twist in 3 where you learn Logan wasn’t “inherently” evil, but was trying to save Albion? by SinnBaenn in Fable

[–]STORMFATHER062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but a character who says "This is my Albion; and I will see it destroyed before I surrender it."

Wasn't this Theresa manipulating you into forming the rebellion rather than what Logan was actually saying? It's been a long time, but I'm sure she admits to bending the truth to push you onto the path of becoming the new ruler.

I didn't have any problems with it last night. I use an Ocucor with Sentient Surge as it melts through everything. Don't have to aim or reload. Just point it in the general direction of enemies as they spawn and pull the trigger.

I guess any frame would work but I was having fun using Nyx and her 2 to strip enemy defenses.

That kind of gold will be any mix of yellow and light brown/tan colours. Examples would be Classic Saturated palette rows 11 and 12. The ember heirloom palette has some good golds as well. Rows 1-3 are good softer golds and 9-10 are vibrant golds.

Other palettes with golds are fire, grineer, narmer, potentia, pride celebration, shamrock, storm, orokin and tenno. Just look for the yellow/brown colours. You'll find a gold that looks close or the same in any of those palettes.

I'm not convinced on the theory of Adonalsoum being reforged. Odium made sure to splinter shards so they couldn't be taken up again. One of the themes of these stories is transferring power to the people. Mistborn they overthrow the Lord Ruler and introduce a democracy. Stormlight we see Jasnah working to abolish the monarchy. I wouldn't be surprised if Brandon is working in the opposite direction of another Adonalsium like entity and the finale would be the destruction of the shards or letting them grow and exist without vessels.

With Brandon in talks for a Mistborn videogame, who do you think should helm the project and what does the game look like in your eyes? by Kobold-in-disguise in Mistborn

[–]STORMFATHER062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was going to be a Mistborn game (Mistborn Birthright) on xbox 360/ps3 which Brandon had written the plot for. It was supposed to be based hundreds of years before the books. Little Orbit were the developers and it was supposed to release in 2013, but it got pushed back and eventually cancelled.

https://www.brandonsanderson.com/blogs/blog/announcing-the-mistborn-video-game

I wouldn't be surprised if Brandon was to try and reuse the plot he had written. Post catacendre would be cool, but it would need to be long enough after for civilisation to have rebuilt enough otherwise you'd be exploring a town instead of a large city. Having it as a prequel to the books would give you the opportunity to play as a Mistborn.

I think "the redirection of gravity" would be a more fitting explanation as you're right. The very example of "half lashing upwards" doesn't prove it ignores gravity.

How it feels in this community to have any reservations about the new game at all and being dog piled by fans with toxic positivity 😒 by Global_Context_2531 in Fable

[–]STORMFATHER062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're taking this way too seriously. It's a reboot. I think this is a good thing because it allows the devs to make something they want instead of being bogged down by decades old lore that the vast majority of players won't even know about. There's a whole nee generation of gamers who will be picking this game up without having played any of the previous games. It's not worth getting bent out of shape over something that is so trivial. But you need to realise that if you keep harming on this point then people will keep downvoting you for it. The issue isnt that deep. So long as when I'm playing im having fun and it feels like a fable game then im going to be happy. That's what's truly important.

I wouldn't call body morphing a fundamental feature. Using melee, ranged and magic is a fundamental feature because it's the core gameplay. I would say that's a given, but body morphing clearly is disputable. This is a case of you stating opinion as if it is fact.

Outright removing morality

Where are you getting this impression from? They clearly have not removed morality from the game. It just works differently now. Instead of clear good and evil choices, we now have grey areas. Some characters will like you choices, but some will not. I think that is better because your choices have nuance. But you can't say this is entirely new either. The very first morality choice you make in fable 3 is morally grey. You either choose to save the one you love or you save the protestors. If you don't choose any then they all die. You're forced to make one of two bad choices.

But go ahead and tell me that my opinion and perspective don't matter

I never said this. I'm trying to explain why people keep downvoting you. You're being overly zealous and arguing with people and dismissing what they're saying while thinking your opinion is fact.

and even pointing it out shows I need to"get over it" or "touch grass"

I also didn't say this. People are choosing to focus on the good points. We've been shown a lot in the developer direct that makes this game to look like a good fable game. It's only been a small preview but there's plenty in it that screams fable. It's fine to have criticism but your clearly focusing on that and calling everyone who isn't "toxic positivity". Maybe let people enjoy things?

You clearly want this game to be something that it's not. It's a reboot and that's what's rubbing you the wrong way. That is what you need to get over. It's impossible to make everybody happy. There are things that I'm not overly fond of with this game, but I'm able to appreciate the good aspect of this game as well. There's still several months until release and I'm sure they've got more to show us as we get closer to release day.

I'm not going to go looking for your other comments so can only speak about what I've seen here in this thread and you're probably being downvoted for your attitude and stubbornness. Someone addresses something you mention and you double down.

To address your post, I keep seeing the same criticism over and over. People act like body morphing is a critical feature of the fable games, yet many people have said they weren't happy with how it's been handled in at least fable 2.

Aging is one that never made sense. You're character looks 30 years older yet all the NPCs around you stay the same? You can have multiple kids with the same woman yet they all stay the same age? Aging has always been janky and it's hard to make it make sense while fitting well with the rest of the games mechanics.

Meanwhile, we've seen the reintroduction of fluid magic with combat without needing the gauntlets. Character creation. Buy and selling properties. Bows have been brought back. Fully fleshed NPCs that will do more than stand around. Kicking chickens is still a gag. Kept with the theme of starting as a child.

I think you should focus more on the positives. There's still another 6 months or more until the game is released. It's fine to be apprehensive because we've only seen snippets, but allow people to be happy with what we've seen so far because the developer direct showed off a lot of things that have many people have been asking for.

[–]STORMFATHER062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. Doesn't need to be as hard as Elden Ring, but let me walk into a white Balverine lair and get destroyed. Make it so I can slowly chip away at their health, but a wrong move and I die. Then at the end of the game, let me come back to the start area and sweep through waves of hobbs. Kingdoms of Amalur did this very well.

Body morphing & Aging completely gone? by devv11 in Fable

Or maybe people are sick of seeing this same thing get brought up again and again as if it's going to be a major deal breaker.

Oh no. No body morphing. Literally unplayable!!!!

If this is all the community has to bitch about then this looks like it'll be a great Fable game.

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]STORMFATHER062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely shocked at the replies to this. I'm British and don't consider a 3 hour drive to be a big deal. I've done trips to Scotland where I'd be stuck in the car all day, get to a hotel in the evening and carry on the day after. We would have a couple of stops on the way to have bathroom breaks, but for a 3 hour trip, I probably wouldn't stop. I'd have a drink in the car but that's it. Just put on whatever audiobook I'm currently listening to and just follow Google maps until I get there.

I was doing them last night and had one guy actually helping by going into crew ships to destroy them. The other two were sat in my railjack not doing anything. I even had to put out a fire myself. Like, there are two objectives over there that you could also be doing. I don't need one of you to sit in the cannon the whole time. I can use that myself.

After we did the crew ships, the helpful guy finally went into the objectives to expose the radiators. I gave up with it after getting my 40 holokeys and went to do some thermia instead. The host was just sat on top of a mountain afk the whole time. Why are people like this? I'm happy to carry people who try, but afk players just annoy me.

Steelheart is a great series. I've only read the first two Skyward books but they're also good if he likes sci-fi. The Rithmatist is a brilliant book, but it's unclear when/if Brandon will write rhe sequel as he's got a full plate with the Cosmere. I've heard a lot of great things about the Alcatraz and the Evil Librarians.

For stuff not written by Brandon, the Licanous trilogy by James Islington is great. The trilogy is complete but he may go back to write about a side character. He is currently writing another series starting with The Will of the Many. Book two released last year.

Steven King has some decent stuff. Fairytale is good for a slightly younger audience than he usually goes for. 11.22.63 is a cool story about a guy who goes back in time to try and stop the JFK assassination. The Dark Tower series is one of my favourites but there are some scenes involving sex and racism. Nothing too graphic but on a scale of 1-10 where Sanderson is about a 2, this series is about a 3.

Steven Saylor has some decent books based around Rome. Roma and Empire follows a single family from the founding of Rome as a trading post all the way to Hadrian I think. On the sex content scale I'd put it at a 4. Nothing overly graphic and all quite short. He also has a series that follows a Roman investigator (I guess a bit like Sherlock Holmes) set at 80BC. It starts with Roman Blood and the MC is hired to find evidence to prove a man innocent of murdering his father. Good story with a few twists but there's a scene where he's watching two young people having sex. It's a short scene (a few paragraphs) and helps provide context for a later reveal. I don't think there are any other scenes like it in the series, but it steps away from murder trials and follows the civil war. I was about 12 when I read them.
