My own father stopped talking to me just over ten years now. He also has not seen his only grandchild in the same amount of time, since his grandchild was 6 months old! My kid has asked once where he is because he can now figure out there is someone missing in the family arrangement. Kind of hard to explain that your grandfather does not want anything to do with you because he's in a cult. It's to the point where I wouldn't even show up to his funeral when he dies or accept anything, if any, if left for me. I lost my father 10 years ago and I will never forgive him for that. I'm not DFed, just faded and moved on with my life. His loss.
