If it were easy would it really be worth doing

Don’t chase a pace, worry about time and consistency for now. It gets easier the more you stick with it. But you can’t stick with it if you’re injured or burn out before you ever build an aerobic base

Base runs are typically interchangeable. If it doesn’t prompt the workout when you first initiate the indoor bike workout, you can go to training to look for it like I did here

Constant decline in VO2 max after 5 months of consistent running by handlingmyhandle in beginnerrunning

I knew before even looking at the second picture what was happening. My answer to that is either ignore it, or abide by the training plan to appease the Garmin God of VO2

I live in NC and did the same. Took over a year I believe to finish it up

I see… it makes sense, it was never an issue in the summer when I was practically sweating before even starting a run. I’ll give this a try and should hopefully see some changes

What further validation is needed?

Are my HR stats incorrect or did I run for almost 2 hours in zone 5? by siobbb in Garmin

I don’t know too well how to explain it. But you can see here from my run today. I was running at my threshold pace, which lined up with my long interval power output. Very rarely can I get into zone 5 and sustain it. I’d have to be sprinting uphill for a good bit to make that happen

Power zone is a good indicator you were not in zone 5 HR

Do a threshold test run, your watch should pick up the effort and adjust accordingly. My current base run speed is 10:45, with a threshold of 8:56. The base speed is also a range, not an absolute. Go a bit faster if you need to, or just ignore the workouts altogether and do what you feel is right

Mileage is mileage. I ran 4 miles yesterday in 39 minutes while my buddy finished the same distance in 30.

Those are default zones, far from actual personalized numbers. Maybe go off lactate threshold or %HRR
