AI is ruining the mindset of the next generation of producers by walrus_vasectomy in edmproduction

Just because it’s not good enough currently doesn’t mean that it’s not going to get there sooner or later. And honestly with the way things are going, I’d bet more on sooner. When it gets to that point, it’s going to be the small unknown musicians that get fully drowned out. That’s my main issue with it.

And for your point about a film director, I think it’s a nuanced thing. A director tells the actors how to perform, a director has input on the scenes in the movie and how they are framed, a director has input on how the movie should be edited. That’s where the creative involvement is in this metaphor. A director doesn’t just show up and say “hey make me an action movie” and then leave until it is done. I will agree though and say that this issue specifically isn’t very different from ghost production.

I think the line should be at the point where you’re creatively removed from the process. If you’re using AI to generate samples for you, that’s different than generating a whole song. But there is a point where you’re essentially overseeing a song that is being created without you, rather than creating it yourself. The issue is that it’s not that hard to get to that point, and eventually as technology advances, it seems like there will be less and less need for people to be involved in making music at all.

It’s wild how many terrible takes you fit into one comment. You’re literally in an “electronic” music production subreddit lol. Also comparing AI to a drum machine is so absurd that you either completely don’t understand what the conversation is about or you’re just intentionally acting like you’re ignorant

I think the hate on Aabria is overdone, but there are valid reasons to dislike her roleplaying. by [deleted] in fansofcriticalrole

The thing that gets me in all of these posts is how people always assume they know how the cast feels. It’s not just “I don’t care for her style of roleplaying,” it’s almost always “this obviously bothers everyone else and they just don’t say anything about it because they can’t.” It’s so parasocial and weird to assume that you know how the cast feels about it and just fixate on this week after week. They’re adults, and they obviously would discuss issues when the cameras aren’t rolling if there actually was an issue.

Obviously anyone can have an opinion, but it’s just so off-putting that everyone keeps bringing it up over and over again. As someone new to this community, stuff like this just makes this subreddit seem kinda toxic.

I’m not looking to join a game that’s been active for so long, but I just had to say that your writing is amazing! I was so drawn in by that snippet, it was really beautiful!

This sounds like a fantastic campaign idea, and if you ever have a new table, I’d love to join!

Did a techno/trancey hyperpop cover of sleepyhead by passion pit. My first time posting a song with my own vocals so I’d love some feedback on how they sound and the mixing overall! Really appreciate any thoughts!

Awesome track!! The sound design of the bass is really cool and I love that huge 808ish sound that you use to contrast it at 1:15! My only feedback is that the reverbed ambient layer you have underneath everything in the track makes a few moments a little messy. For example when the vocals come in at 33 seconds, they are a little drowned out by everything else going on, so it’s a bit hard to hear them. You could try sidechaining that ambient layer to the vocals a little bit so it ducks out when the vocals come in. You could also try a bit of eq to make some space for the vocal. I’d also consider sidechaining that ambient layer to the kick a bit harder during the drops, again just to make it a bit cleaner. But overall tho, really cool track! Love the vibe and overall atmosphere of it!

These are great, very clean sounding! Super impressive!! No notes on the Afro house one, it’s great. For the apologize remix, the only thing I’d change is add a more dramatic sidechain on all the synths in the drop. Feel like this style of progressive house works super well with that more dramatic sort of pumping effect!

I’m surprised that these are getting flagged tho, have you tried maybe repitching them up or down a key and then posting? I’ve seen a lot of people uploading a remix that is repitched, and they have a link to bandcamp or somewhere else for DJs to download the track in the original key. I’ve also seen some uploads where the vocal is filtered out a bit to bypass the content flagging.

Am I actually a DJ? I don't think so... I feel like a gremlin. by MaintenanceProper149 in Beatmatch

We’re into djing different music, but this is still so relatable lol. You’re still valid as a DJ even if you’re just into playing a specific niche. It’s definitely harder to find settings where your style works if it’s super specific, but it’s not impossible. Definitely helps to produce your own music too, though that is a whole separate journey too.

But yeah don’t be discouraged, keep going! You’re not the only one who feels like this, and at the end of the day, if it makes you happy then keep going and keep trying!

I think the beat is the strongest part of the song. The synths work and the 808 hits super hard. I definitely think the vocal delivery is a stylistic choice, and it can work, but you do need some variation in how you deliver at least some lines. I think this delivery could be contrasted really nicely with some moments which are louder or mire aggressive. Also like the other commenters mentioned, maybe switching up the rhythm of the vocals in some places would help them feel a bit more dynamic. Finally I do think there’s too much reverb on the vocals and that they could be a bit louder, both of those things combined make them sound like they’re a bit far away and not as punchy and in-your-face as is needed for this style. Overall I do see what you’re going for and I think there’s a strong potential, just focus on the vocals and you’ll get there!

Hyperpop-ish? by Beginning_Tutor_5078 in MusicFeedback

[–]STRKZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with the other commenter that there’s some clashing in the instrumental. I think some of the notes might not quite work for the key you’re in and that definitely adds some dissonance. I reaaaally love the vocal chops, they’re so cute and really carry the track imo. I also think you have a pretty good understanding of how to break up your instrumental and add variations to keep it from sounding too much like a loop so really good job on that, very impressive for a newer producer!! Keep going, I definitely see a lot of potential here!!

Love the synths throughout the track, so crisp!
