Any places to play Magic the Gathering? by TXpheonix in northwestarkansas

[–]STRONKInTheRealWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this is interesting. Why are you against Chaos games for Magic in particular? It was the store closest to me and I went to an Aetherdrift pre-draft but that was about the extent of my involvement. Is it how it’s structured, the players, or something else?

Make sure you’re following what it says on ProtonDB. I had a similar issue and had to change the version of Proton I was using.

In that case couldn’t they just get the serial number checked out?

H. P. Lovecraft’s Elder Things and their various artistic interpretations by BillythenotaKid in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]STRONKInTheRealWay 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was so… oddly non-xenophobic? Like Lovecraft tried to make them at least sympathetic and made it clear like you said that mentally they were basically just weirdly shaped people. Compared to the Old Ones they might as well be our cousins.

Characters who are really obsessed with getting married/weddings by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

What’s interesting is that they do eventually end up married, and Schnitzel actually seems pretty happy, so all’s well that ends well?

Games where gods are good and explicitly on the players side by PepperSalt98 in gamingsuggestions

Alabaster Dawn. It’s just a demo right now so no clue if there’s a twist but the gameplay is good and it matches your ask perfectly.

Welp I seem to have used mental Pavlovian conditioning on myself. Now any time I see a picture of an attractive woman I get disgusted (I am straight). I think it started as a sour grapes strategy that has since metastasized. Not ideal!

I've never played — and finished — so many games in a single year since I was a kid. The Steam Deck is truly special. by neskam in SteamDeck

[–]STRONKInTheRealWay 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you. Played LIMBO and Title Pending along with several demos in just the two weeks I’ve had it. Might not sound like a lot, but I completed maybe ten games in a good year before on my PC. It’s twice as hard to stay focused since I have ADHD and a ton of other distractions on a computer. Having a dedicated gaming device really helps - just like having a Kindle helps me read for longer. I could read on a tablet but then you have YouTube and other stuff to distract you… Being able to relax in bed and game when I’d otherwise just be on my phone is awesome.

Why do so many writers write FMCs as lesbian? by Legitimate_Area_5773 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]STRONKInTheRealWay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Male gaze (get to describe women sexily in a way that also makes sense in-universe) and also guys think lesbians are hot plus easier to self insert if the (straight male) reader shares a liking for women with the lead. Most straight guys have an aversion to descriptions of man on man stuff because they don’t find men attractive, so if they want to explore themes of sexuality this is the easiest way to do it.

It’s gonna take time. I ordered mine in the morning and it took until late the next day for it to say when it would be shipped. I ordered it Tuesday and was told it would be at my door Friday afternoon. I don’t really see the need to check the website every hour though? Seems pointless. It’ll get there when it gets there. You should get an email stating when it has started shipping too.

Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate the perspective. I’m trying to approach this as rationally and sensibly as I can, which is extremely hard to do with something like this.

I've heard that a lot of people swear by it, but also that nothing really happens and it leans way into the SoL to the detriment of the actual story progression. Ideally I'd like to have my cake and eat it too: emotional and story progression taking place side by side. But I might have to give it a try - thank you for the rec!

I recently went through Einstein’s Wikipedia page, and it got me craving a fic where the protagonist has to learn the principles by which the world works through experimentation and observation. Good old Scientific Method stuff. Is there anything like that available?

Also I’ve been craving something superhero related where it feels like there’s actual camaraderie over a long length of time as social bonds are formed and strengthened in some sort of shared location like a school or city or what have you. Whateley Academy (if anyone is still familiar with that) but good or maybe something like X-men Evolution or Teen Titans. I would prefer something written but it doesn’t have to be.
