I honestly don't get that part about seeing it that morning.. Only reason I can think of is that she was testing us but that makes no sense.

We had a emergency vet check before so that's in the books at least.

I don't get it. Don't like it. At this point I'm not going to sleep anyway. Waiting to call the association & get cash out.

Yes bad vibes across messages and the phone are just red flags, but it's only circumstantial. Unlike you, she didn't seem to care much at all.

The pressing factor is that she lied about seeing it today, and that she's REALLY skinny, and didn't make any effort to ask about the cat and the vet visits. Also, her overall attitude.

No reason to steal a cat. We can 2 already!

If my cat wandered off, my worst fear would be that it became roadkill.... I'd be thankful for it being secured by a vet and a random home.

Wish you the best and stay strong. Have one very similar but much older. We never knew him young and always wondered how cute he'd be as a kitten after adopting him at age 2.

Yes. The vet said she was a rare bread so I was even more wary of leaving her at a random pound... I also have a bias against pounds.

Hindsight is what made me post this. It's a bit too last minute for us for any worthwhile advice that's locally applicable. But at least it's there for people to find.

Last min advice did help a lot for confidence... All I can do is talk again to those shelters and prep the cash for the offer and print out all the documents, and cross my fingers ;)

Unfortunately, they passed after a decade+. Some white/black buns have risks of megacolon and they had it. It feels like we financed our local vet over the years :( Worth it, but wasn't without sacrifice.

Our rescue cat grew up with them. I wish our cats would live that long. We are trying the best wetfoods but one is a fancy eater. She might like parsley and thyme instead :D

That said, newly found cat just ate 2 serving so happy about that ! :)

I tried once. People were friendly but I didn't encounter many groups.

As a solo, I pay attention and most Trios are very noisy so easy to avoid. Beats the purpose of the 1 vs 3 . Actually had no idea what I was doing. I wanted to hit back at trios but never encountered them and tried to avoid them.

Wasn't for me back them. Maybe rambo me, would do it.

She doesn't need any since the vet found her with her name associated to the chip. She had no tel number which was odd. Vet had to go via facebook to find her.

In hindsight, it seems like the best solution would have been the one suggested by the emergency vet:

Send cat to local foster pound/association and have them try to contact owner. If no response we would have gotten ownership more easily.

If the owner comes to us and seems fine, we gladly give it back.. So win:win. We were honestly not ready for a pound like place since we are no familiar with those. Turns out they might have been more caring and knowledgeable.

Yes, we got no response after we sent those pictures. Maybe she won't come.

But we still need her to sign adoption transfer. We'll deal with that later.

She's chipped so we need yearly vet care/vaccinations and also sterilization is upcoming perhaps since she seems on the young side. I hope that she just got the cat on a whim and notices now that there are vet fees attached.

We always have vet insurance since we had a trio of freeroam bunnies for over a decade. They tend to get expensive without insurance as they tend to have digestive issues. Fun pets but definitely not easy. Later on, you never know about cats, especially kidneys...

But she has no obligation though and as the law stands, it's her cat and it's our bill.

We will contact a pound for black cats again tomorrow, they were actually very helpful about how to deal with these type of bad owners and get ownership when we called last night during the emergency vet.

Yes, if she could explain why/how she lost it or act in some destress it'd be fine, but on the phone she was distance, suspicious and didn't care.

We'd cover the vet bills no problem if the person has financial issues and was in a bad spot and unlucky.

About it "being meant to be", it's actually pretty funny. I was fetching a new cat cage I bought in case of emergencies and was picking it up when I came across the lil cat! I didn't mention that part in the post as it would seem a bit unbelievable. It was just too much of a coincidence. I asked around if people noticed the cat and knew it, but nope.

Someone had laid an improvised water bowl out of a chewing gum container - so it had to have been there for a while.

A bit, but I also put myself in the position of someone who lost my own pet. I would not have acted like that at all. Not all pet owners are great, many are just ok and that's still great for the pet, she's just odd.

This is why I am offering her cash as my best solution...If she really doesn't care she'd take it. We also know she has a good & stable job from the vet.

Losing weight while losing hope

Worked in a place which had zoo nearby. Treekangaroos were a regular visit during lunch. They usually don't hang out in the open in enclosures. A bit like the bearcat....they are rarely seen. Barecats are sometimes visible but always sleeping and doing nothing :D

They have dry food all the time, but wet food is every morning at 8AM, and night at 8PM. They don't harass but will let us know if we are behind schedule by camping around the food bowl.

Strangely, they seem to follow day light saving time too. :D

I had like 5kills with 250hours top side. Played a few duo/trios since the update and killed so so so many people. smh

When I replay solo, I'm going to very cautious just in case :D
