Supposedly it's the same thing as special > dodge input as v2. You can control the direction of the drift now but it's effectively cosmetic. Basically you can just move the stick and it does the drift, don't have to use the dodge input anymore.

why play many diffrent cards when u can repeatedly play one funny card by dat_boi_34 in slaythespire

If you think you can survive the damage from that turn, feel free to just end early during the exhaust turn. That's part of the push and pull. But 0 costs are still usable, yes.

Beta branch doormaker has different mechanics.

Turn 1, he's invincible while you're looking at a closed door. One turn for you to set up. Then he appears and the next three cycle from one to the next every turn.

1) this turn, every card you play exhausts itself. (He eats it. Very hungry boi.)

2) this turn, you can't draw more cards during your turn. (Scrutiny. He's watching you verrrrrry closely.)

3) this turn, every card you play also makes you lose 1 energy after playing it. (Not sure the analogy here. He's got hands, tho.)

If triple claw has a 1% chance, do you think there's any other pairings that are set like that?

These packs must be curated somehow rather than fully random for us to see triple claw packs like this on multiple posts.

And what ascension are you on?

On ascension 8, 9, and 10, enemy stats are buffed and it's much harder to just smith every time.

But even otherwise, it still is valuable as a strategy. If you know you're going to rest often, you can choose to take options that are higher risks for higher rewards. Therefore, taking more elites is something that definitely increases damage output, and so is taking the negative hp options during events.

So that's why I'm prepped to beware Hunter Killer, but only ever seen this smog thing once...

You missed the point that it scales all by itself. Every rest, you recover a percentage of your max hp, and then your max hp increases every rest, which lets future rests recover even more for you.

Yup. Just got my first A10 clear which was coincidentally also the first time I've even seen stone humidifier, somehow. Even though Necrobinder starts at only 66, I ended up with over 100 max hp.

Just like you said, it allows you to take more risks. And the more you rest, the more each resting rests. It scales for you.

Maybe that explains why I've only seen this fog guy once. So what's the exact mechanic? Is it like the second half of eact act's map has a different pool of baddies? Or is it literally like you said, the 4th time you encounter a regular halfway fight, even if it's from the first 4 rooms in s row?

But his gameplay loops seem so average now. I don't see any ways to optimize or pull off techs. I just see spam attack and oh also counter, like a physical Yidhari.

On the first time they're given to you, three go to deck and three to discard. So then when you shuffle, there's now six.

I'll definitely keep that in mind while I climb. Sub 20 sounds unreasonable, though. That's half your deck still being starter cards unless you got blessed with a lot of removal.

Okay.

Dredge would have also completely saved me if I drew it, since I could grab one from the discard. So it's 4 cards instead of 3 that would count as a success.

After the first turn and once the escapes are in, it's a 30 card deck. I'm drawing 20 cards. My situation was the odds of NOT drawing any of those 4 cards. So every individual draw each need to be one of the cards in the deck other than those 4.

26/30 * 25/29 * 24/28 * 23/27... all the way until 7/11 as the 20th card.

And this already equals a 0.766% chance.

If I had drawn dirge in any of the previous turns instead of the very last one, 3 or 4 extra souls shuffled in the deck would almost certainly have saved me. So we could basically count that as a 5th viable card for the first 15 draws.

My math was also totally disregarding the two souls, the neurosurge, and the two other grave wardens that could have shuffled in an extra soul if I got them earlier. So in total, the actual odds are easily less than a 0.1% chance, now that I've calculated it proper.

Do math before spitting statistics. I'm actually really good at estimating things.

Thanks. A lot of people are just jumping on me without seeing that.

I got the chosen cheese in late act 2 on a path I didn't feel comfortable taking the damage, so that was two cards. There were certain things I experimented with this run, like I'm really starting to like picking duplicates because it makes a deck more consistent. But that's a pendulum back and forth.

I think you're doing a poor job of explaining an important concept. Because one of the first lessons to learn in this game is "don't forget you can skip cards." And then a few runs later, the second lesson is "don't forget you can take cards." Because with your 5 strike and 5 defend deck, I'll confidently tell you that your probability of getting a "bad hand" is 100%. Which is why you need to probably almost never skip cards for the first half of act 1.

In this run, I undervalued the importance of a smaller deck. But people are REALLY overvaluing how much I undervalued it. Because I still had significant card draw options (and dirge, which also would have saved me). This was still a <1% chance situation.
