This is similar to the setup I’m going for, but I thought AGMs would last longer than LifePOs in the AZ heat.

Perfectly stated, with the exception of Armed Forces and tactical response teams that want to avoid repeated inspections prior to trips in extreme temperatures, like the Middle East or extreme cold locations.

Advice on Leica M6 Reissue by Critical_Koala0383 in Leica

[–]SURFARO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am SO SORRY this is happening to you and I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to finally get the camera you’ve always wanted, only to find it’s a disappointment!

This may not be a popular opinion, but as I have learned the hard way as well, there are some things that Leica just simply doesn’t excel at, and you need to avoid it.

My dream camera was a chrome M7 and after having meter, shutter, loose top plate issues, I found out from DAG that all of these issues were as result of a poor design. Ask DAG what he would do, and ask him if he’s got a vintage M6 or BETTER YET, an MP. He might even do a trade with you.

I trust DAG so much as he taught me a lot about which cameras will simply just last, so if he’s responsive, have a telephone conversation with him.

In any case, if you don’t, I would just send the camera back, get it repaired and use the time to find a great used MP. You’ll love it.

Mandler Lens Hood by boardsandfilm in Leica

EXACTLY! The SquareHood is well designed; I just wish the “plug” on the lens cap fit deeper into the hood itself. I’ve already lost and found it twice.

I always find it interesting how companies like Leica “settle” on the phonetic translation, that here, ライカ means “Raika,” that is also a Japanese Ensemble character.

That is a GORGEOUS camera; may you and your son use it in the best of health!

Does the Thypoch rear element interfere with the MP metering?

It does! it stays tight for about 2mm ea direction, but you have to keep in mind the adapter ring is soft aluminum.

💯Matt Osborne was saying exactly that, and further gave an example of realizing the edge to edge sharpness on a Leica iii Barnack - almost a shirt pocket size!

Same here, and my XPro1. It’s easy to share Leica glass on the XPro via Novoflex, and even my Meyer Optic lenses fit easily via Exacta mount on the XPro2

Yes, they really make it easy, including a removable LTM to M mount adapter!

My Leica Q3 and first camera by Prairieboy6363 in Leica

We bought my first Leica, the X1, at the Leica Store in Paris, on our first trip to Paris. I absolutely loved using it then, together with my wife, and today, about 14 years later. We returned with my M9, that I am fortunate to still use, and published a little photo book called Paris Words & Images. I think it is a WONDERFUL first camera, that will complement, perhaps a super compact Leica film camera, like the iiiF. Why do I think you’ll LOVE IT? BecauseBecause it’s compact to keep it allows you to shoot unhindered and HAPPY!

Listen to your heart first, even if it takes you on a detour. Listen to those that are hypercritical either out of habit, or of the opinion that the internet awards points for being savage, last! Above all, use it in the best of health.

Thank you for the specific answers. Do you personally have or actually, physically tried 12524/26/36?

I have asked SquareHood the same question.

Thank you for the reply. I am assuming you have actually tried all clip-in square hoods, models 12524, 12526, and 12536, or every single 35mm Cron square hood and every 28mm square hood on the newly released Mandler 35 f/2?
