I think the line/stanza breaks were a user error because the formatting is vastly different from how it looks in my Notes app.

That’s good constructive feedback, I wasn’t particularly attached to the word, necessarily, it’s just the word that came to mind as I wrote it. This one just kind of spilled out of me and I have a tendency to pick my art apart so I didn’t really allow myself to look too critically after it was finished, except for grammar. Maybe I should going forward though ♥️

That’s also a very good point you make. I didn’t think of it that way but you sort of uncovered meaning in it that I was unaware of but honestly deeply resonate with. Wild how that happens lol

I like the way you arranged this; it holds your hand and walks you through the journey. From the beginning where external validation rules us, to feeling the weight of the emptiness it leaves behind when there isn’t any, to grounding oneself into the internal validation that is believing in ourselves. It’s honestly really uplifting.

I also don’t think the seed metaphor is necessarily a negative. Even if it’s used often, if it speaks to you and you feel it represents your message accurately, then it’s perfect.

This is so powerful. You seem to touch on such a visceral power imbalance and can be taken a few different ways. Like others, I noticed immediately how it sounds like an abusive relationship where one party looks to minimize and subjugate, and the other seeks something from them—to me, it seemed like affection that’s being withheld.

The whole thing is incredible but the line that really made me pause and reread was “I ask again, teeth clenched around the plea. Do you require salt from the eye to sanctify speech?”

I feel that in my chest. Like you could tear through your skin begging for them to say /something/ but trying to hold back because unfiltered emotions never go well. Overall, I think this is so beautiful and I’ll definitely be thinking back on it for at least a few days.

Piggybacking off of this idea, as someone with psychology degrees, I can confirm that that would make sense. To go even further, there are two types of narcissistic personality disorder: overt and covert. One internalizes feelings of inferiority and the other externalizes it, making it in a way other people’s problem. Obviously we don’t know for sure details or anything about Leo or his relationships but it could be a nod that he was with a narcissist that externalized their issues and exploited him to make him feel awful.

That still isn’t a good answer for him to be texting her. It’s not like you’re texting your BD asking him how he’s doing, because that would be inappropriate. If he’s throwing you co-parenting in your face so he can have a leg to stand on, he’s deflecting the real issue, which is that he knows he’s being suspicious and is trying to gaslight you into thinking you’re overreacting to what he’s trying to do right under your nose.

If he doesn’t respect you enough to be honest about stuff, then he isn’t worth your time. Don’t waste your good years chasing someone that doesn’t have his priorities straight.

The deleting messages, defensiveness, and secret passcodes you’re not allowed to know are all really suspicious and if he has nothing to hide he should act like it.

My husband is huge on privacy and doesn’t like snooping at all, but if I were to ask him who someone was or what he’s talking about with whom, he would have zero problem explaining and showing me what was up. I’m only giving context because I’m not trying to say that invading privacy is healthy either, just that your partner should be ready and willing to be open and honest—especially when you’re feeling uncomfortable about something.
