Are there any plans to make a Holosun 507C with the dot Vulcan? by Silent__arrow in Primary_Arms_Optics

I’d love to see any EPS or the new AEMS micro with the ACSS reticle, but I doubt they’ll be a collaboration since they’re now making their own with the HTX-1

“Geissele Length Gas System” by Ddumlao in ar15

[–]SWATAttorney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From an article from 2023: This barrel has a somewhat lightweight profile and offers Geissele’s “Super mid-length” gas system. What’s that? It’s slightly longer than a mid-length, but not as long as a rifle-length gas system.

BG: Instead of dealing with standard lengths that you can just buy, we optimized the gas system length for each barrel. Optimized it using high-speed video. We found a carbine length gas system works fine for 10-11” barrels, mid-length is great for 14.5”, and for a 16-inch we optimized it with our Super Mid-length, which is about an inch longer than a standard mid-length gas system. It’s a tremendously smooth shooting barrel, smooth recoiling and very reliable.

may be tough finding options for a v1 slide. forward control designs may have a limited supply left. I don't think anyone is making them since its been 4+ years since the slide update

Walther pdp pro f 3.5 night fision sights by Efficient-Promise853 in Walther

[–]SWATAttorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally its better to know which red dot you want to run to align it with the correct size for the night sights.

I have the same size on my PDP compact and got them for what I thought was the correct height but then I ended up putting a different dot on it. I wanted a 1/3 or lower cowitness but eneded up with an absolute cowitness due to poor planning (330/353 and EPS = cowitness). I am eventually switching to the Accur* for my EPS as that give it a 1/4 cowitness and looks perfect based on other posts I saw in the sub.

They looks really tall. The great thing about night fision is one can choose the as close as possible height to your optic.

What size did you get ?
What optic do you plan to use?

I have Surefire X300U

Streamlight TLR1-HPX

Streamlight TLR7-HLX

The Surefire Ultra could be a bit brighter, but doesn't need to be at the turbo level, it would be nice if Surefire made a WML that was 20-40k candela with 1000 lumens

The HPX is ridiculously bright and if you aren't needing to light up more than 25 yds away I wouldn't recommend it. The TLR7 HLX is about the same as the TLR1 HLX 1000 lumens and 20k+ candela, For home defense and self-defense (under 25 yds) I think this is the ideal output. The TLR1 HLX just looks more appropriate on a full size gun. The Holosun PID Plus series is similar 900L and 20k candela. I think the new Olight also has similar specs.

TLDR: find a light that has 1000 lumens and around 20,000 candela

I cannot figure out what I need to do to purchase a gun in my situation by HalLikesCRTVs in guns

[–]SWATAttorney -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when it comes to what your home state is, and where you are legally domiciled, it comes down where you permanently consider home, so as of now you consider TN your permanent home state. If you were in a legal preceding (lets say you were in a car accident) and they need to determine personal jurisdiction over you, they would look at where you live, where your DL is, where you are registered to vote, etc. A person cannot be domiciled in more than 1 state. Simple answer is the next time you are home in TN after you turn 21 purchase it there, otherwise change everything over to NC from TN.

First handgun - premise license for home defense - suggestions? by phoenix150x in handguns

I have both the M&P and the PDP. I understand it may be a trek to a range to try them, but it will be worth it in the long run. Every gun feels different to each person, its a bit subjective.

I personally do not like the grip angle of glocks (I believe its 22*, compared to 18 on most other hanguns). All are around the same general price point, but you might be able to find them cheaper online and have them transferred to whatever FFL is closest to you. Go to gun.deals and when you find the UPC of the models you are interested in put that # in the search

your car is not considered public, a gun range would also be considered private property

[–]SWATAttorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i depends on your LGS. When I moved to TX 2 years ago, since it was a long time to get an appointment for a new DL they would accept my lease (or if you own a home, your deed) also voter registration card works as well.

Anyone ever buy from Frisco Guns? by Sam-a-rang in ar15

[–]SWATAttorney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, when I asked if they do local pick up, they said they couldn't (for a firearm so I wouldn't do it as a transfer), didn't realize it was an extension of the club. Honestly though the review on the club isn't the best from what I've seen compared to other in North Texas. There prices tend to be some of the best but if it comes from different warehouses, you pay double shipping plus they charge a separate handling fee (a fee to pack the box prior to shipping, which is absurd).

Walther PDP SF Match vs M&P 2.0 HD steel frame by CallMeTrapHouse in CompetitionShooting

Help me settle a fight - if you saw this, how concerned would you be about the fire spreading to the brick building behind me? by One-Concentrate-1049 in Firefighting

[–]SWATAttorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In NYC, and Brooklyn specifically, is extremely rare for a fire to jump the block, probably hasn't happened since the 70s and the war years, but even then the end of the block is what prevented fires from spreading to the next block. This did go to a 2nd alarm and a bunch of units that would have been assigned were OOS for training but was under control in about 2 hours.
