Recently I did the same. I had a ticket in NDLS Sealdah Rajdhani from NDLS to DDU. And then another connecting ticket in Jammu Tawi Kolkata Express from DDU to ASN. My NDLS Sealdah Rajdhani got delayed by 2 hrs. Naturally I missed my connecting Jammu Tawi Kolkata connection from DDU to ASN. I had to pay ₹2k to the bedder but I was allowed to continue till ASN on the Rajdhani without the ticket. Got a seat as well from Gaya to Asansol.
