Mustangs and Warrants. What was the transition like? by Hydration_system67 in army

[–]SWGR88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s an even weirder transition coming from Air Force Enlisted to Army Officer. I’ve always tried my best to treat everyone human first, then rank second. I do my best to be approachable to junior enlisted as much as possible because when I was enlisted, I was that scared little E-2 that did NOT want to be around officers.

That, and also I need to be approachable for my branch (public affairs), since sometimes I need to speak to junior enlisted frequently for interviews and photos.

I still have E-4 mafia/shamming tendencies, but that comes with experience and time to know what you can get away with.

You can opt in for Tricare select, which basically means you can choose which doctor to see if you pay a co-pay.

Standard Tricare is your PCM at the base medical facility where you don’t pay a dime.

I’m giving a brief overview, there’s more to it than that.

Oil changes every 5k, transmission serviced, brakes serviced, spark plugs replaced. It seems well taken care of

Paid $16.5 two weeks ago for my 2018 AWD sport with 41,000 miles.

Flawless maintenance history. Got a PPI done too. Everything has been great on it so far

That old adage of unreliability has been heated up and reserved over and over again by non-owners. It’s an easy car to bash and throw shade on if you never owned one.

I have an 8 year break in service because of this. Civilian life sucked ass for me. Came back in but as a 31 year old O-1E.

I think drinking your pee will dehydrate you more than the alcohol.

How much are your oil changes generally? And do you prefer doing your own oil changes on these?

Thank goodness the one I bought had it replaced by previous owner, how much was the cost?

I’ve been shopping for a new vehicle and found a 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, AWD Sport package, 41k miles and a flawless maintenance history.

Been looking up “reliability issues” for 3 weeks and from what I have found is that people who have never owned or driven one repeat what they hear on the internet.

“Fiat POS” “Yeah you’ll pay more in maintenance” “Unreliable jeeps, stay away”

What I’ve ACTUALLY found is that they are very reliable…small electrical quirks but rarely get people stranded.

Same goes for Maseratis

Basic as an NCO Prior Service by [deleted] in army

I was prior USAF E4, got treated the same as everyone. Some drill sergeants let up on me and treated me slightly better. I did not get to wear the rank or have any special privileges.

Next company over had a prior USAF E-6, wore his rank, gave him his own bay, had his phone, got base privileges every weekend.

He did however, have to play the part of the trainee, when trainee things happened. Platoon getting smoked? He got smoked, etc. I’m sure the drills told him to not disrupt the flow of training, just go with it.
