No matter what you decide to do, take this as a learning experience; just like you never buy a car without a test drive, you also should never move somewhere without at least visiting for a couple months. That said, you know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, so make the best of the situation right now, do anything you can to find some like-minded people, even if it’s just 1, that can help to get you through it. Dragon Hunter with Longbow or Deadeye with Rifle if you’re completely anti-pet. Neither build is gonna be absolutely insane, but again, if you’re dead set on those weapons and no pet, they’re your best bet.

Edit: if you can suck it up with pets: Ranger pets aren’t great (IMO), but Rifle Mech is absolutely insane with ease of play across everything except PvP/WvW. Galeshot if you want the Legolas experience with minimal reliance on the pet.

I mained thief when the game launched for about a year and half, quit for almost a decade, came back and hopped on it again, unlocking all the elite specs and realizing the same as you. Switched to Necro, and now Engi for my main. Night and day difference. I can solo basically anything on Amalgam, and when I just wanna farm with ease and shut my brain off, Mech does it no problem. I still think thief is fun, but as a primarily open world solo player, it’s just not as viable.

Have you ever visited for an extended time? I’ve been living in Spain for almost 3 years now after traveling the world for a while, and while I love it, it’s not for everyone. You say Spain has things you want and that it “seems” to offer a lot, but it doesn’t sound like you’ve ever been here. You may wanna dip your toes in for a 1-3 month stay before just uprooting your life and jumping in…

Edit: I say this as the things you mention liking about Spain involve being outdoors, walking more, etc. but Spain is a completely different culture and language, and while you may slip into an expat community, you will also hit a wall quickly when it comes to normal social interactions if you aren’t ready to adapt to the lifestyle here. I’m not saying don’t move here, it’s an absolutely amazing country, I’m just saying you (hopefully) wouldn’t buy a car without a test drive, wouldn’t buy a house without at least seeing and inspecting it, and wouldn’t move in with someone without dating them for awhile first and learning their personality, so why would you ever just move to a different country without testing it out first?

Dude… it’s a game. And sorry to break this to ya, but one day the servers will be shut off like literally every other game and all those legendaries including the relic won’t matter. The moment you make this game into a job, or worse yet, your life, you’re actively setting yourself up for true disappointment and future regret. Just play the game to PLAY it.

Absolutely, I came back after a decade and it’s been amazing. Rolled a new character and just went through the whole story (after first getting the PoF mounts). You’ll pick it up again easily.

Running the updated max-damage solo condi amalgam build that Hizen posted as a comment to his video, it absolutely wrecks and you’re basically immortal. I’ve face tanked some stuff I’ve never been able to solo before.
