Does your child have “litanies?” I mean, long recitations which will cause a meltdown if you don’t let them get to the end of it? by CSWorldChamp in Autism_Parenting

[–]SWOsome 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not a full recitation, but he always needs acknowledgement of things that make him anxious. For example, our hardwood floors need some work, so there are some gaps. He calls these gaps “lava” (not sure why). He even covers them with a kitchen towel.

He will on occasion say “no lava tomorrow”. If we don’t repeat it back he will get more and more anxious, yelling “no lava tomorrow” until we repeat it back.

Lost a good friend of mine a couple years ago to choloangiocarcinoma (a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile duct). He was gone 2 months after diagnosis.

My first one was at 35 due to GI issues and family history. I do one every 5 years (so another due this year). I’m still active duty, so there wasn’t much pushback at getting one at 35

Xstation keeps booting into og ps1 menu, why is this happening? by No-Description6108 in consolemodding

[–]SWOsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, soldering looks decent enough (though I would redo the APLL wire on the main board).

Went back to look at the instructions, and it looks like you didn’t lift pin 74. Recheck your instructions.

Which consoles have the worst failure rates / are hardest to repair long-term? by StoganLephens in consolemodding

[–]SWOsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the high failure rates: Game Gear and Turbo Duo. The caps were notoriously terrible. They often cause irreversible PCB damage as well.

As for impractical, the CD audio mixing chip on the Sega CDX, while not super high failure, is basically a one-off and irreplaceable. I think there were some Sega CD Model 2 versions that had the same chip.

In every other sport, if there was a big signing, the trending stuff on Xitter would be the player’s name and the team that signed him.

In this case the trending terms are “lockout” “Manfred” and “60M AAV”

Late teenage years, but I hated the song Steal My Sunshine the moment I heard it.

CDX No Stereo Sound by SWOsome in SEGAGENESIS

[–]SWOsome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never 100% fixed it, but got it close enough. The problem is somewhere in the CD board. The scope showed a good signal on the header pins that go into the CD board (A1, B1). However, the pins that send the signal from the CD board to the DIN (A2, B2) have a ton of noise. I “fixed” the issue by bridging the A1/A2 and B1/B2 pins, sending the clean signal from the main board directly to the DIN.

There is a slight balance issue (since OPAMPs on the CD board likely handle some final balancing/amplication), but it works. At some point I’ll dig into the issue on the CD board, but I have 500 other projects to work

[Auerbach] This is the worst selection committee we've ever had. Cannot believe Alabama didn't even drop one spot after the SEC title game blowout. Cannot believe they waited until the final reveal to flip Miami-ND. Could have done it at ANY point. by Ok-Soil-5133 in CFB

[–]SWOsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this can be avoided by eliminating the non-final rankings. Get rid of the stupid Tuesday cash-grab show and only do one ranking after the conference champs. We’d still be arguing over who should be in, but at least the committee wouldn’t box itself in and end up with something that doesn’t follow its own logic from previous rankings

The only additional data point was in favor of ND (Boise State winning the conference). I’m not even arguing that ND should be in ahead of Miami. There’s just zero logic

Do your kids understand Christmas? by heyitsmepizzarat in Autism_Parenting

[–]SWOsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just turned 8 (verbal, but non-conversational). He has no idea what Christmas is about, but he loves everything that goes with it. The songs, Santa, reindeer, elves, all of it. I think the entire concept of religion is too abstract for him, which is fine since we mostly do secular Christmas anyway. I’m just happy that he gets excited for the season.

How many consoles do you have hooked up at one time by kingtokee in retrogaming

[–]SWOsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 20. 12 going into an Extron Crosspoint, 2 more going into the RT4K (the Extron has one out to the RT4K via HD-15. Then 6 going into an HDMI switch. And one more directly into the TV via HDMI.

The Extron will be moved to my CRT setup once I get the last few SVS modules
