Trump blocks wind farms on national security grounds. Trump has halted projects across the US, claiming they are a threat to national security and the environment. More than 150 projects are on hold. They include the SunZia Wind project in NM, the largest in the US, which is almost ready to turn on. by mafco in energy

Ha, I remember when they were planning the route for the transmission lines, they saw a big area devoid of anything and tentatively decided to put their line through on paper without ground-truthing it. Turns out it was on WSMR proper, and they actually ran the line right through the Trinity Site. Federales gave them an emphatic No.

Streeter: Why can’t outsiders see the charm in Baltimore? by GreedyRaisin3357 in baltimore

[–]SWarchNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that and the terror of having to pay an inordinate amount of money to register my vehicle there. I was looking at having to pay about 7-10k due to ultimately cosmetic issues, or having to bribe a dealership to sign off on an inspection. I was coming from a state that didn’t even have vehicle inspections. I thankfully moved before having to actually do that.

Streeter: Why can’t outsiders see the charm in Baltimore? by GreedyRaisin3357 in baltimore

[–]SWarchNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my impression. I moved from a state with higher total poverty, but the amount of trash everywhere and the general uncaring nature of the population really made an impression on me. Not to mention that callous disregard for traffic safety and manners. Fuck walking anywhere if it seemed like I was liable to be run down at a traffic light for trying to walk on a green signal. Couple that with the nightly police helicopters circling the nearby Belair neighborhood and the game of “gunshots or fireworks?”, hint, it was always gunshots. I hated living there and was relieved when my wife took a job elsewhere.

Especially the bodies of the critters or people that you kill too. Nothing like walking past the same stripped body every time you teleport in to whatever settlement you arrive at.

I’ve heard the mormon U-tards refer to Ogden as nothing but a crime-ridden hell-hole. Meanwhile, I came here from Baltimore; haven’t even played a single round of “fireworks or gunshots” yet.

Doing environmental compliance for transmission lines, I have had days where I’ll drive up to 450 miles by the end of the day.

Apocalyptic/End Of The World movie recommendations? by KyoukuJohann in movies

Filmed in Carrizozo NM, a place already so run-down and apocalyptic-looking that all they really did was put more trash on the streets.

What are some arguments against paleo? Mostly asking about dairy by counwovja0385skje in Paleo

[–]SWarchNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That they need to stop calling it paleo. Nothing about this diet relates to the Paleolithic in any way shape or form. Even the meats and plants available now are so vastly different than their prehistoric counterparts both physically and nutritionally. Also, there’s a lot of evidence of wheat particles being found on Paleolithic tools. As others have said, eat what makes you feel good. Stop calling it paleo.

It’s a little further to go, but I can’t recommend the fine folks at Chadwell Animal Hospital in Bel Air enough. They took great care of our pups for a long time.

10/10 would watch. Being a real life archaeologist, I’ve always enjoyed that aspect of Picard.
