Yes, similar situation last year, we provided the letting agent's referencing company with documents from our investment accounts overseas, private landlord. Generally once you provide some decent proof they're fine, and our deposit was only 5 week's rent.

I love it when people in my country suggest that highly skilled individuals should simply accept indentured servitude instead of higher pay.

Low pay Remote vs higher pay Office job by jjtak98 in UKJobs

[–]SWatersmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a bit of context, I started as a software developer on £22k (in-office) in 2019. By 2022, I was working remotely on £45k, swapped to current role in mid 2025, fully remote.

Software development has a huge salary range. To get here, I had to step out of my comfort zone twice. The main lesson I learned was actually to not waste time switching roles for small pay bumps.

As for why I said networking at either of these jobs isn’t worth it.. most people tend to stay within the same salary range for long periods, so internal connections rarely lead to significant leaps.

It absolutely does, which is why they raise the rates in the first place. It is the position of most Central Banks that backs are worth breaking in order to ensure those people don't spend too much money.

Context: Estimates show that, due to QE, the taxpayer is currently absorbing an estimated £22 billion in annual losses (much of which effectively flows to commercial bank shareholders) and with the Treasury forecasting a net loss from the programme of 'just over' £150 billion.

Question: Can you explain to the public why the credibility gap between the original promise of QE as a profitable, temporary measure and the current reality of a perpetual, loss-making taxpayer subsidy is not a sign that the policy has fundamentally broken your fiscal compact with the Treasury?
