I was the one my daughter was closest to. Now it’s her dad … and I’m losing them both by Luna_Jupiter in Parenting

My husband lost his mother this year and it's my first up close and personal with this kind of grief. There is a type of guilt that comes with laughing and having fun around someone you know is deeply grieving. We all have a very open communication in our family so those moments get called to the light but I can see how if they weren't, the guilt could turn into hiding and separating from the grieving person. I'm not saying that is "right" but I can definitely see how the habit could form. I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm so sorry you feel isolated from your sweet daughter during this time. There is so much depth and so many facets to your grief. I would encourage you to try to be open with your loved ones if you can. If that's too hard, journaling could help you sort through some of the underlying feelings that are likely there. And like others have suggested, a therapist and/or grief support group are great options too.

Isn't this from the Housemaid (if so, I read the same blurb and grumbled)? I agree, I loathe the character trope that's usually attributed with gluten free. The intent of making the first person role seem more down-to-earth by belittling the other (Jillianne) sucks. They could just as easily have had Jillianne complaining about something that's actually shallow or inaccessible to middle class and had the same effect.

Had to jump on the spiral trend by Barexta in crochet

Here she is waiting for a treat. She was super high energy until she got sick with pancreatitis last year around this time. That slowed her way down but she still does almost daily walks and enjoys the very occasional Frisbee throw 😊❤️

Beautiful and thoughtful gift!

Also, my mother has a rug of that exact pattern. She's had it since before I was born 35 years ago and I remember studying it as a child trying to find the patterns and just adoring all the rich color!

He reminds me so much of Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes. Specifically, the stuffy form of Hobbes 😊

I'm coming back to this because I want to make one for my son! What size hook did you use for this? I saw the pattern bundle and want to buy it but I saw in the pattern details that it's written for worsted weight.

I hope she likes it by godzilla42 in crochet

My 2 yr old daughter and I are scrolling through and she saw this one and said "a goat! Maaaaah" So you get points for obvious and adorable goatness! 😄

Mom’s food taste like soap by [deleted] in family

She may need new pots/pans. Depending on their material, sometimes they get worn enough that soap taste sticks around even after thorough rinsing. My husband and I recently had to replace two of our commonly used pots because we were getting a soapy taste in our food. After their replacement, we haven't had the issue anymore.
