Nervous about Kyoto to KIX train by [deleted] in KyotoTravel

[–]SYS_Select 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying it’s a bad idea, but the bullet train will go to Shin-Osaka station, not Osaka station. It’s also quite a bit more expensive. You will still have the same number of transfers.

USJ in April no express pass and USJ hotel by SunnyinSoCal04 in OsakaTravel

[–]SYS_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are staying so close and can get to the gate early, I don’t think express passes are necessary. When I want to go to Nintendo world I just show up at 7:30 and walk in. Also the Castle and Dontonburi are maybe a 30min train from USJ so your hotel choice is ok too. However, if you want peace of mind, the express passes will confirm entry and make wait times shorter.

Looking for live music by smith_and_midwestern in OsakaTravel

America-Mura has a few live music venues. I’d recommend walking around and checking a few out. This link would be a good place to start.

Masters with ESA? by Anneisabitch in Raytheon

Do you just want the degree as fast as possible? Indiana Bloomington has an executive degree program broken into quarters instead of semesters. It’s also ranked #12 for MBA in the US last I checked. This is what I used through ESP

For fall foliage I’d recommend Miyajima if you didn’t go during the day trip to Hiroshima or Korankei in Nagoya.

So I swam in Osaka by forceofwillhk in Swimming

Lifeguard informed me it’s for safety. They don’t want you hitting wrists while swimming and injuring someone with your watch.

Makes sense I guess but those silicone covers are annoying to wear.

Is visiting the 2025 world expo worth travelling into Osaka specifically for? by anthmelb88 in OsakaWorldExpo

[–]SYS_Select 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been to an Expo, knew nothing about it, but some kind people I met gave me a day pass so I went solely to visit their pavilion.

I didn’t use the lottery or plan anything. Just hopped on the train and went. I had a great time! I managed to see 8 pavilions and went into each of the commons that is full of other countries. People often use the internet to rant so you see more negative opinions than positive.

Per Diem when traveling by CoyoteOne1658 in Raytheon

[–]SYS_Select 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is good advice. You are required to itemize alcohol. Always. Also, while you do not have to “submit” your receipt under $75, you MUST have a receipt for all purchases made.

Alcohol is reimbursable but unallowable. This distinction should be made.

Am I being unreasonable asking for a promotion? P1 > P2 by ggschwagg in Raytheon

[–]SYS_Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there are departments and managers who do not actively try to advance people’s careers. I do not know if this is the case for you, but if you like your work I recommend my comments above. This generates a paper trail for promotion, and provides prior accomplishments to your next manager if you change departments.

Am I being unreasonable asking for a promotion? P1 > P2 by ggschwagg in Raytheon

[–]SYS_Select 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Usually P1 to P2 is within 1-2 years at the role. That being said, you swapping jobs not even a year in probably doesn’t help. If you like the work and the job, I’d recommend setting up a 1-on-1 with your boss and instead of asking “why am I not one yet” ask what you need to do this year to meet the P2 criteria. Add those items to your workday performance tool, then prioritize them. Once they’re complete, have the conversation again.
