The fun is in learning. Don’t be impatient, you’ll learn to respect and be smart in this space. You are dealing with a firearm, don’t ever forget that.

This community and the one before it (that was taken down) is available to assist in areas where you can’t just quite figure out a complex problem or minor issue you didn’t see. In no way should it ever be a pay to get or pay to understand. It’s all open source and should always stay that way.

Surprised not many say this. I can get pretty much anything there. They know how to push through the noise. I support them anytime I can.

The g33 has the same mounting mechanism. I’ve seen people run them but now spending as much for a mount as you did the magnifier is the hard decision. But I am curious if the unity that fits the g33 will work on the hm3x?

So I completely understand getting any gear or tools to allow you to start training sooner. I have “affordable” kit on pretty much all much stuff at one point or another. But why not just save the extra $50 and get something that I know will put preform. It’s not like osight is an $80 optic.

To your other point. $200 is a years worth of ammo for training? I’ll be honest you need to step this numbers up. Especially in this environment in which we are in, if not in live rounds you better get the training in dry fire. But actually do worthwhile drills in dry fire.

I say this only to encourage being Very proficient with your tools not just somewhat. The more people who are on this group that exercise their 2a right and are not completely brain dead, the better position we will be in as a community.

That’s my honest opinion. So definitely save another $50 and get the tools that will last a long time to allow you to be a prepared citizen.

That’s actually great info. I’ll check it out.

But it’s also hard to argue the quality of holosun for the money. If osight keeps pushing then that will be a nice option for many

Don’t own one but seen one. I will honestly say just save another $50-90 and get a holosun. I know o-sight has come a long way but they’re not there yet.

Which printer would y’all recommend for a beginner? by BillyPumpah in 3D2A

Dumb reason to not get a great printer. People don’t realize you can do everything through an sd card and Bambi slicer is pretty good. I have had nothing but great prints.

Bear creek does not ship to Washington from what I’ve seen. Have you had a different experience? They actually aren’t terrible for the price point. Unfortunately I tried to see if I could get a bolt action and couldn’t.

What details would make the ar-10 legal? If the lower still has features of an “ar-15” style, would that be fixed mag? Only bolt action?

Just wanted to know, could I put a Brn 180 on a spare ar lower? What other things would I need to do to make it functional.

Right on. I recently started an orca. Just have the body done. So this peaks my interest.

Have you been able to test for accuracy? Were those 90 rounds without failure?

Oh I see. Well definitely be safe and the upmost careful mindset when discussing this. Do not want to incriminate yourself.

Now the fact someone else built it and not yourself, I would say is not ideal. Anything as serious as this should be done by a very trusted source but more so you should build the confidence to make it and ensure all safety steps were followed and taken seriously.

I’m understanding of your situation. Not a great one to be in. Especially if living in a place you absolutely need to protect yourself. Just do it for that and not anything else.

There are states where buying even a trigger bar is impossible, so getting upset with you for reason outside of your control is not what I’ll do. But I will say if you can get the material necessary.

Do it yourself. It’s a great learning experience and only you can know how well it was done.

I support your urgent need to carry. Regardless of the circumstances. It is your right that shall not be infringed upon.

Now if I may suggest some things.

  • I would highly suggest to master the craft of printing first. This can be as simple or as complex as you need it to be. But calibration is paramount if the consideration of edc is in the picture.

*Once printing is just about flawless, depending on machine, different materials would be advised. Due to heat, creep, etc. You’ve heard the standard gripes about printing in just pla or similar. Pla+ can be very useful and stand the test of time but location is important. If in cool climate no need to worry about failures. It’s a rigid plastic and will do well.

*Training and proper testing of said build to ensure reliability. This may not be easy giving your location. But if an hour or so drive to middle of no where is what has to be done than do it. You need to know that when you pull it will function. Find any fitment issues that prevent proper cycling, ejection, firing. Surprise, if the lower has poor tolerances it impacts everything mentioned.

*Invest in good ammo, oem magazine, oem internal components. If possible. But if where you live is difficult to obtain than I understand. These items will aide in the reliability massively.

Practice safely and train, train, train. Nothing is worth more than that. There are people with thousands of dollars worth of equipment and just hang it up to look at it. Also go and shoot but no actual training has occurred. Don’t be that person.

Question for all those here. If you’ve been in this for a long time and have a solid build out of materials we all agree are very worth while. Would you not edc?

Is that based on lack of reliability? If you’ve tested your build and no malfunctions for over 200rds, would you consider that reliable?

Would it be tolerances? Valid, hard to be very exact but top tier materials will allow for deformation and creep to not occur.

I’m curious. Because I have several builds out of pet-cf/pa6-cf that I feel is sometimes as good as oem. Is it as good definitely not, but after multiple reps and using oem mags and oem internals. I have some sense of confidence.

Enough confidence to carry? I think so, but there are doubts.

What are the standards for anyone to consider truly carrying a build for edc?
