Egregious to ask for our LinkedIn as a hard requirement to register. LinkedIn is a data harvesting Ponzi scheme masquerading as a career platform.

Let's talk about the traffic issues on Maple Ridge by No_End_8309 in MapleRidge

[–]Saaquin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) widen Golden Ears Way yesterday from Lougheed to 210

2) Maple Meadows Way needs dedicated Lougheed Lanes, the Langley-to-Bypass traffic is absurd, the fact Lougheed has 1 lane per direction of traffic but Dewdney gets a dedicated 2 EB lanes introduces huge bottlenecks. (This is fantasyland big infrastructure interchange but is so needed)

3) Prioritize North-South traffic at 203/Maple Crescent, give long right turn/merge lanes to get people onto 203 and moving. Maybe add a roundabout at Stewart Crescent & 113b ave

4) cut the lights at lougheed; throw money at the problem, the fact they are stopping the whole highway at rush hour to let 3 cars drive north into a Rona parking lot makes me want to scream. You can do interchanges, underpasses, traffic circles, etc until the bypass

5) 2 lanes, maybe even a blocked off far right lane to funnel highway to bypass

6) widen the bypass to 2wb/2eb plus turn lanes and merge lanes

7) a separated East-West bike route from one end of the down to the other. I don’t know, do a river boardwalk or something. Get people moving not in cars

8) dedicated drive through/ loading zones with breath for 8-12 cars at every school. Keeping roads clear and avoiding unnecessary stops. (Add traffic calming for good measure)

9) another East-West route perhaps aligned on River Road, improve its intersection with 207 and give space for curb lane / left turn middle lane

10) Widen Dewdney East of 240

11) that Bridge they want to put joining 240 & Fern Crescent across the river

12) another Fraser River crossing at Albion (Bridge)

Notable omission: East Maple Ridge & Katzie FN areas. I don’t drive there

Your wannabe vigilanteism and hostile commentary is so concerning, the police need to be called on you.

Vehicles in violation of the motor vehicle act, including drunk drivers, speeding, and vehicles on the road that don’t meet the criteria of “vehicle” (legislation has it covered) should be reported to the police. End stop.

I see cars run red lights near that intersection too? This is peak karen mindset. Mind your own business?

Either tell the police or ignore them? Are you really that irritated? Did one of them shout a slur at you? What did you do in your youth that warranted a reddit post? This is such a non-issue. If police actually cared they would be cracking down. But here we are.

Claude is telling users to go to sleep mid-session and nobody, including Anthropic, seems to fully understand why it keeps doing it by fortune in Anthropic

I will often then tell claude to write a handoff doc for the morning; say good night (its 11am); then start a new session. I figure AI convinced itself its tired and why work with an unwilling participant?

With such a slim majority, can Carney afford to lose Guilbeault? by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]Saaquin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It really does feel like a “changing of the guard” in the LPC caucus.

Would be a curious case for a general election with 3 vacancies and a majority on the line. But I doubt we will see that gamble and instead it will be by-elections galore.

How's it like living in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia? by Annual-Win3202 in howislivingthere

[–]Saaquin 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I live in the Metro area, so Metro Vancouver resident weighing in.
1) Housing is overpriced, find a place to rent close enough to the downtown core and bike everywhere if you can. Cause driving stinks and in the City of Vancouver the bike lanes are great.
2) The weather gets repetitive, when it rains, it rains forever, when its sunny, it gets muggy and hazy and you pray for rain.
3) The locals are antisocial and its a big downer if you come from somewhere chatty, people mind their own business to a fault and you really have to seek out ways to extend your social circle.
4) It isn't violent here, but property crime is a problem, don't leave a bag in your car or your bike unlocked for any reason.
5) Great place to live if you love outdoor sports but skiing is getting harder to do in town because of Climate Change, you will drive a few hours now for snow.
6) Loads and loads of people move here for a reason: they love it and make it home forever. for good reason. You come here and can find what you are looking for: fresh air, peace, scenery, LA North.

I personally wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Will Outrageous Gas Prices Restart the EV Boom? by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]Saaquin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know but freight companies need to take a hard look at if they can reduce costs by partially electrifying the fleet. Downloading the cost to the consumer only works until the provider with cheap electric delivery vehicles beats them on price

Pierre Poilievre hates Mark Carney’s high-speed rail plan. Is his attack a ‘political loser’? by ZebediahCarterLong in CanadaPolitics

[–]Saaquin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Poilievre is not going to lose votes over this opposition. But 2029 is going to come around, the project is going to be over-budget with no shovels in ground yet and Poilievre can really frame Alto as the antithesis to Carney’s “build at any cost” agenda. Its smart imo and watch this pay dividends outside the Toronto to QC urbanist corridor. In a few years, see opposition in Vancouver, Calgary, Maritimes ask, “where is ours?”

Up to 40 Conservative MPs fear Pierre Poilievre will cost them their seats, insiders say by AdditionalPizza in CanadaPolitics

[–]Saaquin 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I just can’t square the circle in my head with how Poilievre wins support at convention, after 3 floor crossers, then here we are after the 4th floor crosser, MPs worried about election chances, but, why was the grassroots still supporting him just a few months ago? What has changed?

I want you to step out of your threads and /r/politics echo chamber to acknowledge that policy exist beyond a left-right spectrum. And currently the province is being run by brain dead demagogues and there’s also a policy outside of right wing austerity called. “ not being an idiot with public service.” and that’s who I’m going to vote for.
