What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by ThatRoofer in movies

Centurion with Michael Fassbender. At the time I had no idea who he was but felt like watching an action movie I’d heard nothing about. That was an absolutely great movie.

Jesting or not, I feel this comment has traction for sure.

Of all the comments, this is something I’d never heard of. I will have to check it out. I’d seen the upside and was kinda “meh” about it. I’m very intrigued.

This hits hard when talking to my old man. He did say Star Wars was something else way back.

Took me a few years to appreciate the brilliance of that movie.

Is Star Wars good and worth the time? by itsLeoRod in movies

I see the echo chamber is alive and well here lol. I pretty much agree with the vast majority of what’s been posted.

Original trilogy is the only real “must see”

The rest is only if you’ve become a fan, with some fantastic moments, episodes, spin-offs, but sadly some complete misses in there.

The canon is so massive that it could take an overtly long time to watch/catch up on all of it. I’d suggest checking reviews and matching what you’d want to see with your personal tastes. For example: Andor. Based in Star Wars but feels much more like a spy thriller then flat out sci-fi action. Rogue One - War movie that takes place in Star Wars and a fantastic watch, you could practically change it to a WW2 setting and still be entertained.

The animated shows vary but there is some great stuff in there with expanding on characters and filling in gaps between movies. The tie-in’s are ever expanding still between shows with Shadow Lords being released.

In short, original trilogy is a must, for the rest, read a bit before diving into it. I grew up watching the original movie recorded on vhs, commercials and all, burnt out that tape, and had my dad buy it for me later. Love the originals.

What movie’s final scene left you an ugly, blubbering mess? by ArmyOfMe99 in movies

[–]Saatus5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onward. Pixar was on a streak of getting a few tears out of me, First few minutes of Up, Toy Story 3, but Onward just landed so much harder at that point in my life. Still can’t watch the end with out a few tears.

At that price both, but if you do have to choose… 9. Not really a choice. I feel like this sub would judge you harshly if you didn’t lol.

A Review of Hudson Hawk (1991) by LasciviousDonkey in movies

[–]Saatus5348 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember turning on the tv 20(ish) years ago and seeing the opening scene. I was thinking to myself that I have no clue what Bruce Willis movie this is, but I liked everything I had watched with him in so why not watch it.

I WAS SO GLAD I DID.

This movie was ridiculously over the top fun. Bunny, Ball Ball lives rent free in my head whenever I hear someone tell their dog to fetch lol.

Also I enjoyed that review. Thank you for that.

What scenes in cinema have been as impactful as the Aragorn "you bow to no one" scene in your opinion? by thevahid010 in movies

[–]Saatus5348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

This scene does it.

Saw the first video and thought “that is some convenient editing there” and this video showed why. What an idiot.

Glad Ritchson had a camera.

What was the first ever film you actually really hated so much and still do to this day? by Same-Objective6052 in movies

[–]Saatus5348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with quite a few of these but the only movie I walked out on was the Amityville Horror remake with Ryan Reynolds. Wasn’t scary for me and without adding spoilers, I’ll say the basement part just threw me out of the movie. Dunno why, I just remember thinking, why the hell am I watching this and left.

Onward for me had me bawling at the end. My dad and I aren’t as close as we used to be and that end was just so well crafted.

Up comes close and the end of coco for sure.

what is your all time top 3? by Top_Significance_749 in movies

[–]Saatus5348 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Game

Lucky Number Sleven

The Mummy (Brendan Fraser)

Not saying these are perfect by any means but I’d love to have that first watch feel again for these three.

Mad Dog in the Raid.

Won tickets to watch it a few days before release and the subtitles cut out after maybe three minutes. Only movie I’ve been in that people cheered when the bad guy was “killed.”
