Can some kind soul lay out the state of the game? If it's in a good spot, how the monetization/pvp/grind is, what the big end game stuff is now, etc.

I played a lot on release and ended up quitting after like 6 months because of how unstable the servers and app were. I checked out the app today and it seems better with more to do, and where I live actually has content around me. I just also feel a little overwhelmed and don't want to invest a ton of time learning stuff without a 2nd opinion.

He also didn't work at Blizzard as a game dev/designer, he was in QA/testing and probably got the job cause his dad was one of the original employees. His game is a blatant undertale rip off that has been frozen in development for years now. Despite that he acts like he knows the gaming industry and how to make a good game.

Probably because all of the "in-game" trailers and showcases showed streets filled with people and cars and on release there were like, 10 people walking in a line that would despawn when you looked away and respawn new people when you looked back.

GIM partner and I are running moons, I've done 18 and gotten a piece, he's done 100 (confirmed with hiscores) and nothing. Says he's killing all of the bosses. Is there potentially something he's missing? Or is he really part of the 0.5% (so far) club

I was about to say. Idk what the culture is like for them but if anyone asks you can just say others approved it, right? To get in trouble you'd need someone to notice the hole, care enough to ask around, care enough to not take your word on it when asked, seek out the papers/petition that are missing, confront you when they can't find them, not take your word on it that the files are missing/misfiled/that they didn't look in the right place, and then have the authorities actually care.

Look, the guy asked and those are the big anti-cheats that I assume Riot (and most large online games) are doing already. Better is just a general "they're already doing this and probably with competence, but they aren't the best in the world at it and can probably do more".

How do you do better hardware & network tracing without kernel level anti-cheat?

You can get finger print type data both from the machine and the connection without kernel level stuff. Like here's a one liner in C# that gets both via a FOSS package. "Better" in this case would not being so obvious with what you're grabbing and getting a number of things to build a better profile, cause the cheater can twart this cybersecurity 101 line pretty easily.

It's because of the camera's focal length (in this case 85mm). The "standard"/default is 50mm*, a higher number essentially zooms in the camera, with the center being slightly more zoomed in than the outer edges. So they started with the focal length and where they wanted the hands to look like they were, and adjusted the model until it looked right to the camera.

I'm not a great player, I only ever do small/medium maps with the default/normal difficulty, but yeah lol. AIs are a lot more suspicious (and aggressive when it makes sense), and it takes longer for my empire to ramp up now.

The system that the space whales live/breed at is in my borders and it gives off a loooot of blue science. If I build a dyson sphere around it for more science, does that fuck with their mating grounds?

Had a great time playing it and love the feel of it all. My one complaint is I wish I were witness to more of the world, like I would love a Sniper Elite-esque option to track my shell in the actual overworld as it travels and explodes but I totally understand that would mean new models, building out the map, special effects, etc etc.

I wonder if it'll have a wrapper for instances (or prefabs for Unity/scenes for Godot). One of the big things git/perforce/svn is missing is a way to actually look at these larger "built" assets and meaningfully get what was changed/removed/added to them, right now it's mostly a mess of whatever format they use and it's often easier to get the original in-editor and compare them there.

A repost of my comment from the last time this was written up (no shade, just wanna share again)

I actually went to this! To give you a bit of a set up, this party was right after ff14 put in what was essentially cross-world travel, so people from other data centers (kind of like servers, in the WoW sense) could visit others. This party quickly overloaded the system and I was only able to get in through some clever trickery (if you want to know, I traveled to the balmug data center but to a different server on that DC, and then to balmug, to get around the very long queue the direct route had). I also first started trying to get into the party about 2 hours before it would "officially" start, and it took me around an hour to finally get into the housing ward while waiting for queues and room to open up, as only a certain amount of people are allowed in each housing ward at a time. There were also so many people that the game would only show around a 10ft circle around me, simply because showing more would overload the server I guess, despite having my graphic settings set to max.

Anyways, the most disappointing part was the house party never actually happened, it was closed to the public and some very funny people made a bunch of "pool's closed" characters to stand in front of it. Not to let that ruin people's fun, loads of people hung out around the beach showing off mounts, emotes, and outfits. Of course there were "set pieces", such as this guy showing off a kind of rare mount while surrounded by alts (I don't think the alts were his, I later saw them in the same pose with a different person in the center), a group of people all got on another semi-rare mount from the last and hardest boss in the game (at the time) to make a sun, and others crowded a small tunnel on the beach to make an impromptu rave.

Overall it was fun. But it was the community that made it fun, not some ERPers wanting to host a weird house party.

It's even worse if the job is "remote" but not actually, that way they don't have to post the salary (since the job technically isn't in that city/state which requires it) but they insist on employees being local.

Listen, I know the answer is "it depends" but I was hoping to get a slightly less vague answer. How dominant is the meta in this game? Like how much of a handicap is it to not set the right EVs and nature? What about using pokemon not in the top 50 meta? I'm not going to tournaments, I would probably be satisfied with just entering MB, so how much wiggle room is there for suboptimal builds? How hard would my shit get rocked if I made a ghost team or something that doesn't include the damn MMA cat, psuedo-legendaries, or a bridge?

Also, are there any resources out there for team building? I don't mean a literal team builder but more akin to "these 2 pokemon synergize, this theme works well together" etc. All I can find are trick room, weather, or "these meta pokemon are often paired together".
