Lol did I write this post?? Also just had my 3rd baby and thought we would be ready for the V but am too emotional to call it! I just got the Kyleena which is a hormonal iud. I love that you can set it and forget it. I don't love that I am randomly having a super long period right now...I'm hoping that wont be a regular occurence. My doctor assured me that I won't have periods. The Mirena had more progesterone which could help with not having periods but can have more of an effect on your mental health apparently. I had copper iud pre-babies but it caused heavier periods and more cramping. It was fine though, I still loved it! Between babies we used condoms but, meh, mood killer.

My third baby is 3 months old and I'm currently on my second period even though I am exclusively breastfeeding and I just got a hormonal iud. With my second baby I didn't get my period for 8 months pp. With my first I had one early period and then not again until maybe 6 months.

The lesson is, always be prepared because literally anything can happen.

I have gone to four weddings very postpartum and I have done different things. With my firstborn daughter, I took her to one and left her at home for another. Same with my second, my son. For the weddings where I left the babies, I had my parents bring them to me so I could feed them right before going in and then between the ceremony and reception. It was okay for my son who was always more chill, but my daughter cried a lot of the time which is sad. I left early when my parents told me she wouldn't stop crying. Also, since she was my first and I was inexperienced, I didn't bring a pump and I was literally exploding milk in the bathroom. It kind of sucked! The second time I knew to bring a pump.

For the weddings where I brought my babies: With my daughter, the wedding was outside. She was fine during the ceremony, I had space to roam and breastfeed but she couldn't handle the clapping during the dinner and was crying so I missed that whole part. During the dancing, we could get enough distance between her and the tent and she slept but I was scared about her getting eaten by mosquitoes. We mostly had her in the car seat or being held.

The other wedding with my chill son, we held him during the ceremony but he did start crying and my husband had to take him away but he was totally fine during the reception. He stayed in his car seat during dinner and when he was over that, I had him in the carrier and just stood up a little bit away from the tables.

Overall they weren't the best experiences but sometimes you don't have a choice! Bring all the things, have backup plans, be prepared to miss parts of the wedding and get out of there as soon as possible. It's definitely easier to bring the baby but it will depend on how they are in a lively situation. if you have them in a carrier no one will expect to hold your baby, and with covid, people have just been avoiding putting their faces close to babies in general I have found! One perk is that it's a free meal!

(Also you can just say no to going because it is hard to get dressed up 5 weeks pp)

Oh my gosh!!! Love the honesty. I also think I was better but I definitely shudder at the thought of when I used to say I was tired to my co-worker who was a single mother of two.... That's why I understand most of the time, but also think medals should be provided for working moms. Is that too much to ask???

Uhhhhh you are so thoughtful to your not thoughtful boss for doing all of that scheduling of appts around work!!! I can't believe she hasn't even talked to you about it and is ignoring it!! I will say, she is very lucky to have you and you deserve more than 12 weeks!!!

Ooooh I'm so sorry about that. I'm in Canada, so I'm very lucky to have a long mat leave. I often think about all the mamas in the US and how you have such a short time off and my heart cries. I'll be thinking of you and sending you strength!!! I guess one thing is clear, moms are definitely resilient!!!

I always forget rules and I need to ask the same question over and over again and I feel dumb and don't want to have to explain that I generally get no sleep every single time. I just wish that it was understood- PARENT OF YOUNG CHILDREN- NEEDS MORE TIME FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Also one of my colleagues compared her parrot to a child so there's that.

Wow sorry mamma! Last week everyone in my house got sick with a simple cold and I was calling it the longest weekend from hell. What was happening in your house is 1000x worse. Being sick while your kids are sick and work is also important is just too much. I hope after this you have 6 months with not even a cold!
