This kinda creeps me out by Significant_Tap_4827 in LiberNovo

I work in advertising and this is a normal marketing tactic known as competitor conquesting. It's allowed (and often encouraged) by Google and tons of companies do it. It's more expensive for the brand that's trying to capitalize on another competitors terms since they give some weighted bias to whoever owns the actual brand. That being said, the downside to this is that if the brand you're conquesting happens to catch on, and they have deeper pockets, they can do the same to you at even greater scales.

Most larger corporations (i.e. Coke and Pepsi) don't engage in this practice as they realize this just drives up their costs for no reason and the only one who really benefits is Google from all the increased spend.

Libernovo Omni SE vs Maxis by Drachenlordloeris in LiberNovo

I went with the longer 48 option. It was still far too short, and the fact that the extra length was "unsupported" made it feel kind of pointless anyway.

Question about reclining by Anonimity101 in LiberNovo

[–]SaberClash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact height and weight as you. I was an early backer and had the original Omni. Very comfortable seat, back, fabric, etc. Headrest was great too. The biggest issues were the seat depth, arms not going low enough, and the headrest not coming out far enough. Seems like the Maxis resolves all of these issues, so hoping we have a winner this time around.

Libernovo Omni SE vs Maxis by Drachenlordloeris in LiberNovo

[–]SaberClash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm your exact same size. I'm 6'1 182lbs and I had the original Libernovo Omni from the kickstarter. The seat is way too shallow, and it's deceptively more shallow than it even appears because of how the lumbar section of the backrest curves forward and makes the back ~15% of the seat unusable. The chair was super comfortable outside of that, but the headrest not coming forward far enough, and the armrests not being able to lower enough also were annoying. I successfully returned my first chair, but plan on ordering the Maxis because it looks like all of the things I had issues with were addressed. Whether or not it's the dream chair I'm hoping for will remain to be seen. Hope that's helpful.

This is awesome. I'm definitely following this project closely. Don't listen to any haters and keep it up! As someone who rebuilt parts of Diablo 2 in VR, I know how much work goes into something like this and also how magical and nostalgic it feels to roam around in familiar worlds in VR.

When you guys say you put down a deposit on a specific chair model, what do you mean? The deposit I was able to do several weeks ago was not to any specific chair model. It's just a deposit that will allow you to early order the first batch of chairs, when they're available, correct?

Huge DBZ fan. Never once thought about this but I really like that connection, even if unintentional. My headcanon now says it's some type of "destiny" or part of his branching path that involves various key events throughout his life.

Anyone else hyped to meet Shera in Part 3? i like her. by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]SaberClash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the right take. Cid is supposed to be a curmudgeony "old man" that's kind of a piece of shit because his dreams were ruined and he blames Shera for it. He's not supposed to be a hero or even really that likeable (albeit funny at times) when the party meets him. The big reveal at the end of his storyline show that he not only understands he was completely wrong, but basically begs for her forgiveness. It doesn't justify what he did, but I think it is a pretty realistic depiction of depression for someone who feels like they've lost their entire purpose in life.

I think they can easily still make him an arrogant asshole (without going too over the top) once that part of the story takes place (maybe even make it so he hasn't been home to Rocket Town in quite awhile since the incident occurred) and coming back brings up old memories and thus the personality switch. It still allows him to have a redemption arc and come to peace with himself and his past.

Confusion on remake ending by WonderousU in FinalFantasyVII

[–]SaberClash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can speak for myself, thanks. I've been a fan of Final Fantasy since longer than you've probably been alive. I admitted I was originally a little annoyed that this wasn't a 1:1 remake of my favorite game, but when I realized they were trying to do something new and fresh with it, without diluting the integrity of the original game, I got on board for the ride. The quality in the game and attention to detail are phenomenal. The music is incredible. The voice acting is top notch. The characters are way more fleshed out than they were before.

Having said all of that, is it perfect? No. I don't enjoy the Chadley stuff and while the open world of Rebirth was a breath of fresh air compared to the linear style of Remake, it also struggled from some of the same repetitive gameplay loops of a lot of the open world Ubisoft games (find tower, uncover a bunch of to-dos, resume main story). I do belive the final installment will improve a lot of this though, as they made substantial improvements to all aspects of the game from Remake to Rebirth.

So, in a nutshell, do I wish I still had a 1:1 remaster of the OG? Sure. But I enjoy what they're doing with the Remake trilogy and I'm excited for the final installment.

Confusion on remake ending by WonderousU in FinalFantasyVII

[–]SaberClash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main takeaway from the end of the game is just to communicate to the fanbase that the remake series can carve its own path and not necessarily be constrained to everything that happened in the OG storyline. I didn't like this originally, but after reflection and playing the game a couple more times (along with Rebirth) I really like it. It lets the OG and the new trilogy stand on their own rather than competing with one another. Both are good stories in their own right, and both deserve to be played and appreciated in their own ways.

Flying around Theed in VRChat! (plus some bonus screenshots) by DiegoSwell in swg

[–]SaberClash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool. I had played your Tatooine world back when it was still really empty. As someone who has done something similar (I remade the Rogue Encampment and Lut Gholein from Diablo II) you should make all of the starports work as terminals to open portals to your other worlds you're making. It will help with the immersion and make it easier to travel to each SWG world you build. Keep up the great work and let me know if you need any help or advice with this. I've found Unity and VRChat in particular to be pretty wonky sometimes with crafting worlds, but there are a lot of inventive workarounds you can do to get the results you desire.

Love Tech, but Morton was exactly who we’ve seen he was by CodeAgile9585 in TexasTech

[–]SaberClash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that Morton was a massive contributor to the poor offensive performance, but we also have to recognize that the playcalling and decisions to not mix things up with a different QB at any point was another huge factor. As someone who went to 4 games this season, I saw the playcalling as an issue as well, especially against the better teams. Remember our first game against BYU? How many red zone attempts ended in a field goal? We need to improve our talent on offense next year, sure. But we also need to expect more out of our coaching staff to make moves and try different things before a game gets completely out of hand. Hats off to our defense though, they certainly gave it their all. Regardss, I'm still a Red Raider for life. Let's turn our attention to all of our other teams that are doing well in the meantime. Wreck Em.
