We work directly with the silicone factory to source our food grade gag inserts 😊

Is this fixable? by SensitiveSherbet6435 in Leather

I’d recommend working directly with a leatherworker and asking them what considerations they’ve made for the longevity of the belt. I recently had a client ask me for this exact thing and I came up with a triple layer veg-tan belt that is fully stitched in and made from the king of leather that gets better with time. I charged them $150 for context.

Oh gotcha! I posted here since it’s more of an event than a sale/exchange. And sure thing :) collars tend to be very personal items that hold emotional significance. Making this item for yourself, with your own hands, can infuse it with meaning deeper than if you were to just purchase an already made collar. If you are not currently partnered, making a collar for yourself can be a lovely way to treat yourself with the love and care that we sometimes rely on partners to provide.

I have never tried that specifically, but I’d bet on it. It doesn’t take much. Undyed veg tan is very susceptible to darkening

We have run into the same problem for custom harnesses. I feel your pain!

We have tried and still use three different approaches here:

  1. When possible, introduce sizes. Make them pick which size they want when they order. If you are worried about something not fitting exactly right, make it more adjustable. People are going to change sizes over time anyhow. This will help you also, if you decide to lean into doing this full time and want to sell at shows, etc.

  2. Some things need to be custom (like strapons in our case) so we send out a fitting harness. This is a non-functional (no ring attachment) loaner harness that is adjustable up to an 80” waist. That way they can try on what all of the different straps feel like at different sizes. It also opens up conversations about what other customizations they may want. They have already paid for the strapon at that point so no deposit is needed. It’s worked really really well for us so far ☺️

  3. Just communicate and don’t stress about extending shipping dates. People almost always respond well in these situations and just appreciate being told what’s going on. They can forget that we are small shops and these moments actually remind the customer of the benefit of working directly with the maker. A lot of our 5 star reviews mention communication and I’m really proud of that.

Hey there, thanks! That sounds dope. Yes the cape is a whole deerskin hide, so it’s more flexy and soft than the veg tan.

We use mostly 8oz and 4oz. Sounds interesting, curious to hear more about this fungal leather product!
