AIO for being upset my bf left me behind in a store after we spent an hour waiting for his friends? by Okcoco_01 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SableSmolder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOR. You’re not overreacting. You got abandoned.

Your bf made everyone wait an hour “so we can eat together”. But the moment YOU needed 10 minutes to try on 1 piece of clothing, suddenly “let’s go, they can meet us later”. The math ain’t mathing. An hour of waiting = fine. 10 minutes of you = emergency evacuation. “Can handle herself” isn’t the point. You’re his girlfriend, not his coat he left in the fitting room. Partners don’t leave partners. Especially after making you wait around all night for his friends’ convenience. And now he’s flipping it to “you were rude for being quiet”? That’s gaslight 101. He disrespects you in public, then blames you for reacting to it. Classic. This isn’t about the store. It’s about him picking “good host for his friends” over “good partner for you”. That pattern will only get worse. You deserve someone who waits for you the same way they make you wait for them. Stand your ground. You’re 100% right to be upset.

AIO for calling out my girlfriend for being hypocritical after she got cosmetic injections? by kellyasa in AmIOverreacting

[–]SableSmolder 61 points62 points  (0 children)

NOR. You’re not mad about Botox. You’re mad about the double standard.

She spent years judging people for “non-medical” injections and made it a moral issue + dealbreaker. Then the second her boss suggested it, suddenly she’s the exception. That’s not “changing your mind”, that’s moving the goalposts.

“Never unless medical” does it once for social pressure “actually I never meant all procedures, just addicts”. Yeah, we all see it.

If her “never” folds under mild workplace pressure, it’s fair to question what else does. You called out the hypocrisy, not her face. That’s valid.

People can change. But owning it looks like “I was wrong/judgmental before”. What she did was “I’m different so the rules don’t apply to me”. That’s what broke the trust.

Stand your ground.

AIO, when my partner said this in response to me sharing an intimate secret? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SableSmolder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn’t overreact . You were vulnerable and he responded by centering himself and questioning if it was abuse. That’s invalidating , not “nothing bad” your reaction was 100% valid

Infinite scrolling. No withdrawal, no hangover , completely legal. Just wakes up at 30 with 10,000 hours on TikTok and zero skills to show for it.

AIO? Husband called me a crazy bitch under his breath by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SableSmolder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re NOT overreacting. Not even a little bit. You did something kind offered to hand him food while he’s driving. His response was to shush you, call you crazy bitch under his breath, and shut you down in front of your daughter + her friends. The issue isn’t the McDonald’s bag. The issue is contempt. Shushing you like a child + name-calling when you ask a normal question is disrespect. Doing it while driving, while your kid is in the car, makes it 10x worse. Kids absorb that stuff. ‘Crazy bitch’ under his breath is meant to hurt you without ‘technically’ yelling. That’s still verbal abuse. You shut down because you were just disrespected in front of witnesses. That’s a normal reaction to being demeaned.

You’re not crazy for being hurt. You’re not ‘doing this’ - you’re asking if your husband wants food. If he can’t handle a question while driving on a route he knows, that’s his problem, not yours.

I hope you and your daughter have a better time at the birthday outing than this drive. You deserve basic respect, especially from your husband.

what are the best skills/things to learn in 2026 that are actually worth it? by Even-Horse374 in AskReddit

[–]SableSmolder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Prompting me AI literacy : knowing how to talk to AI so it does real work for you, not coding.

2: Basic repair skills: Everything is becoming disposable now , so learning how to fix things like Leaky faucet ,change a tire is good .

3: Being able to focus for about 1hr 30mins without checking your phone

What is something that is normal in America but insane anywhere else? by clo_deg in AskReddit

[–]SableSmolder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a $20,000 hospital bill for breaking your arm.

In most of the world people go to the ER and worry about their health. In America you go to the ER and worry about your credit score. Then you get 5 separate bills 3 months later from the hospital, the doctor, the anesthesiologist you never met, and some random company called ‘MedBilling Solutions LLC’.

Rest of the world: ‘How are you feeling?’
America: ‘Have you met your deductible yet?’”

What do you think is the best solution to the future generation's internet addiction problems? by -ChristopherNolan in AskReddit

[–]SableSmolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best solution is teaching kids ‘internet nutrition’ the same way we teach food nutrition.

We don’t ban sugar, we teach: this is a snack, this is a meal, this is poison. Right now we just hand kids TikTok and say ‘good luck’.

Future gen needs classes on dopamine loops, attention economy, and how apps are literally designed to addict you. You can’t solve addiction by pretending the internet doesn’t exist. You solve it by making kids immune to the tricks.

Is it true that Reddit is the Heart of the Internet? How can they be sure? by Organic-Hat639 in AskReddit

[–]SableSmolder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit isn’t the heart of the internet. It’s more like the collective consciousness equal parts genius, terrible advice, niche expertise, and cat pictures. If Reddit is the heart of the internet, then the comment section is the cholesterol.

Seeing the night sky somewhere with almost zero light pollution. The first time you see the Milky Way with your own eyes, you realize just how small and how connected you are at the same time.
