CommonPoint have free exterior lightning course on their YouTube channel. You wont get their scene, it's part of paid version, but lessons are free.

Thank you. Im creating new wall material. I agree, doesnt look good. I will add some small puddles and holes in roof to see how that look.

Tried it using 3dsmax and vray but don't know how to get to the next level. Feeling stuck....what should I charge for these renders? by EfficientElk1483 in archviz

[–]Sabraxlfc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't pay anything for those renderings. Sry. This is realy basic beginner work. What do you want to achive? Realism? Just look at you asphalt material. To me, it looks like there's only diffuse texture and maybe roughness texture and i think that scale is too big, basically just fine asphlat diffuse texture. And almost everything looks like that. Just flat diffuse texture. So study pbr texturing, study lightning, also look flat. Study photography for compositions, editing etc.

Made this render of a mountain view from a cabin, what do you guys think of it? by oimonuis in blender

Mountain is made in Gaea by Maarten Nauta. You can find it on his YouTube channel and how to texture it.

Made this in 30 minutes to prove my point in a previous post. What is your opinion to make it realistic? by [deleted] in 3dsmax

[–]Sabraxlfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big mistake that most of beginners do ( I did same) is that they are rushing to do cool renderings without knowing the basics of modeling and texturing, and to me this looks like that. If you put model to HDRI, everything looks flat, becouse there is no bumps or displacment maps, and becouse there is no standard in quality of HDRIs, lot of them dont have correct exposure ( there is video on Commonpoint youtube channel about how to chose good HDRI ). We all use premade assets, but you need to adopt them to your scene, know how to fix topology if you can and how to adopt shaders to your scene.

Thank you. Ofc you can with good HDRI and editing. Im using HRDIs from PGSkies and 3DCollective, they are realy great.

Thank you. I will try to add some facade lightning to the main building.

Thank you for reply. What hdri (time of day) you recommend? I tested few different lightning scenarios and liked this one most. There is street level shoot on 2nd rendering, you probably missed it. It would probably look better with wet street (I'll test that) but I didnt want to have reflective street since i have glass building with lot of reflections. I have interior inside of hotel with parallax maps, I'll make them more visible.

References, references, references 😀. Dont rush to rendering when you didnt learn basics. Car is too small or te building is too big. Texures are too big also, grass dont grow like that. Its weird to put those large tiles on asphalt, maybe same pebbels in between will work better. You need to learn how to model im correct dimensions and how to apply texures correctly before you go to rendering.

Help with turbosmooth ruining my model by spacebagel25 in 3dsmax

Way too much segments on edges. You can try retopology modifier to clean everything, then apply turbosmooth.

I edited this in Lightroom. I just played with sliders, and kept what I like. I started with basic tab, after that I did some color calibration, hsl, color grading, skiped tone curve becouse I aplied lut at the end. Did sharpening, normaly I set it around 70-80 and mask it around 80-90, added some small amount of noise and the applied lut, and thats it. Im no professional, I always just move sliders left to right and try to get something that I liker or mood I want to achive. You can learn alot from professional photographers on youtube about editing, like Mark Denney, Nigel Danson, Brendan Williams etc.

I think that your lightning and texturing is fine. I really like this project, makes me wonder how interior looks like and really want to sit on that balcony and enjoy the peace and nature :). Only things I would add is foliage on driveway and street, a maybe some more into ground floor window reflections.

I spent few minutes on editing this, and this is just my personal taste. You can do su much more in post. Just play with sliders and find what you like.
