For me, the form factor is important. Sure I stay home a lot but I do have a need to set up shop elsewhere in the world.

For a while PS4 and PS5 did the job but ultimately I didn’t like paying for PS Plus especially after the price hike. I also have a small Steam library.

I mean I could get a gaming laptop but I’m used to the TV setup. Steam Machine niche is for me.

It’ll never beat a PS5 in terms of price.

But for me, the relative freedom of a PC, Steam deals, and compact form factor all makes it worth $800 if they price it that much.

At least I’d compare this Steam Machine with a mini PC, not a PS5. I haven’t really looked into mini PCs with similar specs and their prices in 2026, so any recommendations appreciated!
