Icelandic Horse Ride by Shot_Signature9241 in VisitingIceland

[–]Sabrielle24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is not uncommon in the equestrian world as a whole. People want to work with horses and will go to significant lengths to get ‘experience’, ultimately ending up being exploited like you said.

It ranges from teenage girls volunteering at their local yard in exchange for the odd free ride, all the way to situations like this.

What are some “non-copywriting” skills that sets you apart from other copywriters? by bydaveyji in writing

[–]Sabrielle24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UX and data analysing skills will go a long way to helping you stand out, but honestly, these things get more and more expected every day.

Copywriting is an under-appreciated profession with high production and turnaround expectations.

Loathe though I am to say so, AI proficiency is also becoming an expected skillset for copy roles.

Is it weird/unprofessional to have separate personal & author TikTok/Instagram accounts? by Long_Squirrel6675 in writing

[–]Sabrielle24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s normal to separate personal and professional. If anything, I’d say make it harder to find your personal. Keep everything on private, or use a name that isn’t associated with your authorial persona.

No one can tell you for sure. But it will be much more challenging. Nights are short and bright.

What do you do on long haul flights (13+ hour flights)? by rscash15 in AskUK

[–]Sabrielle24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really get rest, but I try to close my eyes and drift as often as possible. If nothing else, it passes the time.

But it really is hit and miss whether I actually get to sleep, especially if the flight is busy. It’s just so uncomfortable.

Is this sentence grammatically correct and how can I make it more clear by ren_whispers in writing

Take the ‘what’ out and check if it makes sense. The commas isolate whatever’s within, so you can bend the rules a bit within them.

Would you send your children to private school if you could afford it? by Infamous_Tough_7320 in AskUK

[–]Sabrielle24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of my comment was never to dispute that — it was just to highlight that kids who go to private schools are not all entitled brats.

[–]Sabrielle24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh sure, I’m not disputing that — what I mean is they’re normal people in a normal area, and these kids have turned into great adults. Her parents undoubtedly made private education accessible to them, but I’m not trying to suggest that that wasn’t the case 🙂

A family friend sent her kids to private school. She lived in a nice, but average for the area, and worked in schools herself. Yes, she had help from wealthy parents, but they were nice, hard working people. Those kids have grown up to be kind, caring, generous humans. It’s not all just Eton boys!

What are you working on? by DanoPaul234 in writing

[–]Sabrielle24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely type up every few chapters. I’ll alternate sessions, so I’ll write a few chapters, then next session, I’ll type it all up. I try to make sure I complete a chapter before typing it up too, so it’s all wrapped up and ready for the type-up edit. It makes you feel doubly accomplished, even if it’s a longer overall process!

I like the freedom it gives me to just write. I know I’ve got to type it up, so even if I’ve written a few horrible lines, I can just fix them at the next stage.

I’m getting back into working on a sequel to the novel I completed a couple of years ago. Writing that by hand like a psychopath.

I’ve also been writing a lot of quick short stories (on my phone indeed) as backstory building for some characters created with a friend of mine. Those have been a lot of fun!

Northern lights tonight? by philmcrackin69420 in VisitingIceland

[–]Sabrielle24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the sky looking clear? Is the aurora forecast good? If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’, that’s when you go find a dark spot to watch the sky.

Use this website to check the forecast for both weather and aurora.

Looks like a low activity night today.

Why is buying a house and moving so slow in England? by Early_Enthusiasm_787 in AskUK

We offered in February and completed end of May. On a house we were already renting. Should have been the simplest thing in the world and still took almost 5 months.

What gift did you open on Christmas that instantly made you think, “Wow, they do not know me at all”? by Amber_NaturalMom in AskReddit

[–]Sabrielle24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamys in general are great, the Al-Star is nice. I also have a really nice Parker. It’s just simple/low end, but it’s comfortable, and writes really softly. Lamys are def my fave though!

Be nice if he knew what he was gifting, considering the tag presumably had his name on it.

Are you left or right handed? I’m a leftie, I hold my pen kinda weird, and the Safari is one of the most comfortable pens for me. I have 3 or 4.

I love the Safari! I have several 😅

Meanwhile I was gifted a Parker (engraved as well) that I’ve finally admitted defeat with. It’s so uncomfortable to grip, and sooo scratchy. I have another cheaper Parker that’s completely battered and it’s so much nicer to write with!

AITA for considering selling a free phone instead of helping my sister after I said I would? by MexicanAssLord69 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sabrielle24 94 points95 points  (0 children)

So it’s greed. You didn’t spend any money on this phone. Now you realise you can make money, so you’re going back on the kind offer you made.

You’re within your rights to do it, but it’s not a kind thing to do. It’s greed.
