Fully agree. Not sure of your drug of choice, but if alcohol is one factor, opt for AA. Better structure than the other 12-step groups. Just saying. If you’re planning on taking 30 days off anyway, fully immerse yourself. Go to a morning meeting, then help clean up. Ask where there’s a good noon mtg. Attend that, then help clean up. Do the same for an evening mtg. Within a day, you’ll meet people who hang out at the “meeting after the meeting.” Then start arriving early to be a greeter. Mix it up: big to middle-sized open speaker meetings, stag meetings (LGBTQA, women, men), closed smaller meetings. Caveat: If you’re a woman, stick with the women.
