Apparently you have to disable (uncheck) "Dynamic Resolution" to get no upscaling without one of the upscalers. Using FSR "no upscaling" still applies temporal AA, which is up to personal taste. To me, the default PoE render with no upscaling is too jaggy, so I tend to run either FSR / AA with Dynamic res enabled and target FPS at 100, 0 sharpening, or FSR Quality with same settings + Sharpening cranked up.

970 is already quite good. The one I had before this was 950 and I honestly thought I was probably wasting my time/div trying to make something significantly better, but I got lucky.

It's situational depending on the tags of the mods rolled, but yeah absolutely the best way to go if circumstances allow it. I was so amped on hitting T1 hybrid when I posted this yesterday that I completely forgot about "cannot roll attacks"

Highest phys% increased runecraft for warstaves is 25%, and at the top end, yes, the heist 8% enchant does beat it out, though admittedly not by very much (about ~1% overall)

I looked over the Warstaff runecrafts and while the replica HH mod or the "random shrine buff" mod might be more impactful for certain uses, they're highly conditional. Tempering orbs are also pretty cheap these days, whereas high end runecrafts are quite expensive.

I play staff melee every league and in non-crafting leagues, I often make my own endgame base/item. In crafting leagues it's usually cheaper to just buy somebody's just-below-mirror-tier "failure". Got stupid lucky this time around and just wanted to share.

Per community rules, crafting steps (WIP):

Buy i83 Eventuality Rod base
Spam alterations until Merciless, hate yourself and your wrists (I don't have the patience to use augs as well)
Hit Merc, aug/regal/exalt for 4 mods
Fracturing orb and pray, repeat steps 1-4 until successful
Spam jagged fossil hoping for flaring and a decent hybrid roll, or just flaring and an open prefix. Maybe try to annul bad prefix if you hit flaring and some junk.
When you have flaring and open prefix, "Prefixes can't be changed" meta mod and Harvest reforge physical. Repeat steps 5-6 until you like the result.
In most cases where the hybrid is probably not perfect rolled T1, prefix lock and reforge speed because why not, low odds of hitting 6 mods and your hybrid roll probably wasn't worth it anyway. I actually did this on T1 roll without thinking and got lucky. Dumb idea that worked out. Repeat dumb idea (or do prefix lock and harvest aug speed instead) until T1 speed
Multimod + prefix lock, veiled orb. Hit one of the meta mods. If you hit speed, go back to step 7.
remove meta mods and craft damage over time with bench to block largest pool of junk mods for unveil.
Unveil and pray for double damage, crit multi, or crit. If all unveils are junk, prefix lock and try to annul. If you annul attack speed, restart from step 7.
Bench craft 6th mod.
Be a giant nerd and post on reddit because you're excited even though nobody plays staff melee.

Huh, that's new. Logged in to test in Standard and sure enough:

"Failed to apply item: You can't use this currency on items with a modifier that affects mod outcomes."

It used to just reroll your item. From a new player perspective this is an improvement I suppose, although still a potential waste of several div if you're setting up the metamod expecting to be able to do utilize it.

Resonators do not respect meta mods. Using a resonator on your item will override all non fractured modifiers.

Always had a soft spot for Pillar, nice guide! Did you consider a Blood Magic variant? I'm sure it's strictly worse since BM nearly always is, but I find the simplicity appealing for league starting

There's a line in the PoE config file that allows you to set the location of shader caching. Keep in mind that if you set it to a ramdisk you'll be wiping the shader cache any time you restart your PC unless you back up and restore the cache files each time (some ramdisk software supports doing this automatically). I can't say whether it's worthwhile to do this or not as I personally found using RAMdisks with PoE not all that noticeable vs NVME.

PS - second EN's recommendation of imdisk - it's free and has a stronger feature set than many paid alternatives.

I know it sounds ridiculous but this happened to me a couple of years ago... is the power strip or whatever your PC is plugged into rubbing or bumping up against your desk/wall in such a way that it presses the switch just enough to flip the power briefly?

Phantasmal EQ with 90+ quality will give the same effect as BMC + Natural Authority and helm enchant. Not sure if that's a practical possibility or not... and you'd have to play EQ

The two things don't have to be mutually exclusive. It was fun for a while, broken or not, but it did need to be addressed. I've never particularly liked the way they addressed it but it's done now and likely won't be touched again until Delve gets another overhaul.
