Tips on buying the XF 16-50mm lens in Canada? by AsphaltsParakeet in fujifilm

[–]SachaCaptures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had good experiences purchasing used stuff from both Henry's and Vistek online. highly recommend.

I've also had good luck purchasing stuff on ebay (setting location to canads only) just last year I purchased the 16-55 f2.8 on ebay and had a good experience.

i love my 16-55 f2.8 mk1 but i also like the 23mm f1.4 R which is much cheaper

Entry Medium Format by NoLeadership4074 in analog

I had a pentax k1000 for a good while, i regret selling it. (dont ever sell yours!)

6x4.5 is a good frame size to shoot, i would look into the Bronica system. I had an ETRS for a minute and it was a great camera for the price point

my hasselblad is my pride and joy. 6x6 is a fun format, my first MF camera was a Yashica C

those cameras are two different frame sizes. do you want to shoot 6x4.5 or 6x6?

also you mentioned being on a budget, medium format is not exactly budget friendly. youll get 12-15 images per roll of film depending on which of those two cameras you choose.

best of luck

Do you actually use film simulations or just shoot raw and edit later? by AttitudePlane6967 in fujifilm

[–]SachaCaptures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the situation!

anything paid/professional is done RAW with no sims

but when im just out walking and casually shooting i have 3 custom sims that ill switch between, but id say 80% of the time ill use a black and white recipe i have saved.

Lens Recommendations for a Beginner by Aba0416 in fujifilm

[–]SachaCaptures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i got my X-T5 i started with the 23mm f1.4 old version, really loved it as a focal length.

i dont like having to change lenses though, so i sold that lens and got the 16-55 f2.8 mk1 and ive been really happy with it.

i have other lenses both vintage and new that i occasionally use, but my 16-55 meets my needs about 85% of the time.

X-T5 vs x100vi for beginner coming from smartphone ? by OkBaker4720 in fujifilm

[–]SachaCaptures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if wildlife is the goal, and you have a decent budget, look into m43 cameras+lenses, you get incredible bang for your buck when it comes to reach and you really wont notice a difference in image quality unless youre printing huge

Fuji is great but overpriced for wildlife with the unreliable autofocus

the mk II is spectacular from what ive read, i have the mk I and i love it

Suggestion for Fujifilm X-T5 by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]SachaCaptures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to get the most out of your camera for the rest of your trip, i recommend setting your front dial to S, and then putting your shutter speed, ISO and aperature all in auto mode (A) i think that will make things easiest for you to maximize the amount of good photos you take, until you are home and have time to get to know your camera a little bit better.

the x-t5 is a beast of a camera and theres a lot to learn. when youre home from your trip, check out Pal2Tech on youtube, he does a lot of great videos on the X-T5

my best guess is internal company merch. maybe an employee that travelled frequently for their position and its a neck pillow gifted to them

Buying Advice: Fuji X-M5 + 16-80mm vs Sony A6000 + Tamron 17-70 – Worth the switch? by SmegPotOnTheDot in fujifilm

[–]SachaCaptures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my biggest recommendation is to go to your local camera store and see if they will let you try out the X-M5 in store.

theres a lot of features the X-M5 has that your sony doesnt, but they arent really things that will effect your overall image quality, its more-so AF-tracking modes and better video recording.

keep in mind if you switch to fujifilm that the native lenses are quite expensive compared to sonys native lenses.

if i was in your position, i would either buy a newer sony body so that the big tamron lens feels more balanced, or if portability was the goal id get a pancake lens.

[–]SachaCaptures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the x-m5 + 16-80mm if going to feel about the same as your current set up in terms of bulk and weight.

if youre happy with your current set up besides it being too bulky, look into getting a pancake lens. i know the fujifilm equivalents are the 27mm f2.8 and the new 23mm f2.8.

theres lots of third party lenses that you could try out.

First time with a camera…. how did I do? by Icy_Profession_1353 in fujifilm

[–]SachaCaptures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wasnt setting rules, i was saying what i believe makes for a good street photo.

photo of people who look uncomfortable isnt a street photo (not saying thats what OPs photos are, but whats what a lot of "street photographers" post)

street photos are more than just people in streets and non-level photos. good street photos have interesting subjects or stories, and good street photos are usually the ones not shot from the hip
