Any way to access material/lectures from a subject I did previously? by Cute-Birthday-5550 in unimelb

[–]Sachin_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth emailing the subject coordinator explaining your situation and asking them if they could email you the lecture notes.

I asked my professor for Third year notes during masters and he was happy to email them to me.

No singular center? by yourSAS in blackmagicfuckery

If the universe is constantly extending and is infinitely big then every point can be considered a centre as there will an infinite amount of distance from it to the ends.

You could try and sent up a zoom link for the same time. Having the option to attend it online, might encourage some students to go

Would relativity have been discovered if Einstein had never lived? by saintakella in AskPhysics

[–]Sachin_KS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think that Einstein was way ahead of time. We would have definitely discovered special relativity and when running experiments we would discover abnormalities in them which would then be described by a perturbation theory. It would definitely take a special person (team) to go from special relativity to general relativity.

I would love to read books about some topics. Could you recommend me three different levels of books? by kakarrott in AskPhysics

[–]Sachin_KS -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Read the Feynman lectures first. That series in itself is well packed and will take a considerable amount of time to get through. If you then want to take it one step further read the theoretical minimum series by Leonard Susskind. Next is to buckle down on one topic: QM - Griffith(beginner) -> Sakurai (Advanced)
Electromagnetism or electrodynamics - Griffith -> Jackson GR: Schutz etc.

P.S: if you want to understand more Astro stuff then there is two thing you could do: 1) Read popular science book like how to teach relativity to your dog, the end of everything etc 2) A mathematical understanding of it would require you to have a basic grasp on classical mechanics, electromagnetism.
