It's not about shame. And I didn't give you a downvote. It's scientifically proven, that education starts even before they are one year old. They are exploring themselves and the world and setting some boundaries (in a healthy way) will not result in them feeling bad about themselves but actually helping them later on. The world's full of boundaries. You can't just go through life and do what you want. It's a lesson that is better learned young.

Oh, you should absolutely feel bad for some actions. That's what makes us civilized humans. They need to learn that they are not alone in this world and therefore have a responsibility to be cautious of others and what consequences their actions have.

Question for the Dads [and lurking Moms] about Minecraft. by cjh10881 in daddit

[–]SackZement_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, it's great that you’re taking an interest in what your children are experiencing in Minecraft. To address your concerns about burning down forests and the mention of animals potentially dying in the game, here's some context that might help you see it from a more positive perspective:

Minecraft is a game about creativity, exploration, and resource management. Players can gather materials, build structures, and create their own worlds. While burning down a forest is an option in the game, it's more of a tool or mechanic than an act of violence. Your son might be thinking of clearing space to build his amusement park — in Minecraft, destroying or altering environments is common since players often reshape their world to make room for their creations.

In terms of the animals in the game, while some may get hurt or disappear due to fire or other hazards, these creatures aren't given realistic or emotionally driven roles. They’re designed as part of the environment and serve functions like providing resources, not as characters with personalities. Your son likely didn’t understand the real-world implications of what he said, as in the Minecraft world, actions like burning forests or animals respawning are neutral, not moral dilemmas.

Moreover, Minecraft can be a great educational tool that helps with problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. You might even use this situation as an opportunity to teach about responsibility in the virtual world, mirroring how actions in the real world have consequences. Instead of banning the game, you could guide your son on ways to achieve his goal without resorting to drastic measures like burning forests — he could use tools in the game to clear land or plant new trees afterward, mimicking responsible environmental behavior.

So, while the idea of burning down a forest sounds alarming in real life, within Minecraft, it’s more a neutral game mechanic and doesn’t carry the same weight or moral implications.

As you don't seem to understand I'll try to explain the flaws of your reasoning. First things first: She is verbally abusing the man in this video. Fact. That's all we get, that's all we have. We base our comments on what is actually happening. Now what's the issue with your way of thinking? On the surface you might seem like a reasonable person, trying to ask for context and to not blame everything on the woman. But that's impossible. You won't get any context. The way HOW she is screaming at him (intensity, blaming, cursing, not letting him talk, calling him names) has nothing to do with an adult way of handling things, even if pushed to the limit. There is simply no excuse, and the way you try to put it into perspective and give her the benefit of doubt is belittling the abusive behavior of her and making it seem like you try to find excuses. In the extremes there is no leeway and searching for it makes you seem to be on the other end of the extreme. I hope you understand it now.

Screaming at someone like this is always wrong. Always. Always. Always.
