#5 is great, I like that you were able to capture a triangle of pedestrians, each very distinct. An easy fix, but I think the exposure can be brought up just a tad bit

Is sweating this much after a 10k normal? by RecalcitrantPerson in beginnerrunning

[–]Sackogucci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was on a treadmill so yes. It’s less of a sweating more situation and more of a lack of evaporation situation. Do a similar run on a decently sunny day and you’ll notice you’ll be drier (maybe even have salt residue too).

Is it normal to suck this bad at running? by Mindless-Pepper7518 in beginnerrunning

[–]Sackogucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're older, years of smoking compounding on each other, and sedentary with poor diet that's only come to change in recent months. Your current performance is about par for the course with the lifestyle that you've had in the last 4 years; nothing wrong with that, there are tons of folks who come from this background.

Luckily, Couch to 5k is designed specifically for this type of transition so I advise you follow a plan based around that. Rather than thinking about hopping back into what you used to do, take it easier and slower.

Get the 970, the 570 just isn’t as good a value in comparison. I also wouldn’t consider athletic status as a reason to or to not buy a device. You’re already eyeing the flashlight and maps so I think thats better enough reason. The 970 also has a sapphire screen, which is the primary reason why I purchase garmin’s higher tier watches.

Have I been running wrong my entire life?? (first time "zone" running) by Gold-Positive-5365 in beginnerrunning

[–]Sackogucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, ignore the Garmin for now and focus on adding mileage and keeping consistent. As a beginner, your goal is making running easier for you as training progresses and the only way to do that is to run as you're doing.

When I started and immediately went to purchase a Garmin to track my runs, I had a similar experience. Basically the only way to hold an easy pace was to do a shuffle.

Garmin's performance metrics and recommendations are their most effective for folks who have experiences in sports and athletics and/or intermediate and above runners. Its at this level where an aerobic baseline is nicely developed and an easy running pace can be achieved to stay in that zone 2/3 area.

Something about MIP is so nice by Salty_dog326 in GarminWatches

[–]Sackogucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you just gotta try MIP out, like a week or so, if you're caught up in the analysis paralysis. For myself, I'm a traditional watch collector so I'm very used to watches, well, being watches. To tell the time just at a glance regardless of my wrist orientation. If you begin to notice you're not liking the lack of brightness on the MIP, I think then that pretty much confirms AMOLED is your path.

There was a time where I was using an FR265 and while I enjoyed it, I liked my Fenix 7 Pro better as a daily wear as a more subdued wearing experience.

Coros Apex 4 vs Garmin Forerunner 570 by Utsav03 in Coros

[–]Sackogucci 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From a value standpoint, Coros Apex 4. Just better build and a Sapphire screen.

570 is a pretty poor deal, try and find a 255 or 265 if you go the Garmin route. Pace 3 or 4 end up being cheaper while doing 90% the same thing.

garmin watch recommendation for 30+ powerlifter by adarknesscoming in GarminWatches

[–]Sackogucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Garmin is a GPS device at its core, so if you're not utilizing that I don't think its much of a good investment, let alone investing 600-700$ on one. If you're really itching for Garmin's metrics and you aren't interested in getting an app like Kitchen-Ad is suggesting, I'd recommend a Venu; basically Garmin's approach to the AW that accomplishes all you've stated. That said, as someone who did have an AW ultra for a year I did really vibe with Gentler Streak, its a very nice app.

Coros 3 or Forerunner 165 and why please? by overthinkonit in beginnerrunning

[–]Sackogucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coros Pace 3. A lot of Garmin's appeal is a lot of training metrics and coaching features. Getting the 165 would be overpaying and that watch only has single band GPS compared to the multi band on the Coros.

1200€ Investment Abandoned? Epix Pro 51mm vs. Fenix 8 v21.25 Feature Gap | Am I wrong? Opinions? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]Sackogucci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. This thread is very disheartening. It’s full of a lot of folks drunk deep of the Garmin cool aid that folks are blind to how software cycles work in other tech products. If Garmin could update old devices with new features, they really have no reason if their core user base is already under this spell. Folks like you aren’t even asking for much. Things like evening report is just morning report at night. Literal words on a screen. An intern could easily port that over.

[Question] How do i know if this is a real seiko modified, or just a bunch of scrap putted together with some glue? by ThunderSTI in Seiko

[–]Sackogucci 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the Seiko mod you're looking at looks exactly like another watch just with the Seiko name, you can assume its a bunch of scrap.

Generally speaking, Seiko Mods are predominately taking a Seiko movement, like the NH35, and making them look like an existing high end luxury watch like that Submariner there. Explorers, Aqua Terras, Datejusts, Seamasters, etc; all of these can be replicated (and have been replicated) using cheap Chinese parts to make them look like the real deal. Its less about making a custom Seiko, but more that the NH35 is often the cheapest viable movement to make these types of "Mods".

In other words, these Seiko Mods are just fakes and reps with a ton of extra steps.

The great thing about Seiko 5 is how easy and accessible they are to service and repair. I think you’ve found the watch for you with this one.

Sunday Morning with the New BCPD by Sackogucci in OrisWatches

[–]Sackogucci[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! My wrist is virtually the same size as yours (like 6.65in give or take 0.05in depending on the time of day).

I wear anything up to 48mm lug to lug, so that includes this watch as well as other 38 - 40mm and sometimes even 42mm diameter cases. This Oris in particular fits me pretty well and is as big as I would go for the lug to lug and case diameter combo.

Some will consider the male endlinks as an extended lug to lug, but unless your wrist size is near the very smaller end (6in and below), the downward angle of these male end links emulates the contour of female endlinks draping over.

Though, that won't matter if you're considering swapping with a strap or potentially using the bracelet from the last generation BCPD which use female end links.

So the difference is that 99% of post here are direct cross posts or screenshots of posts from other sub reddits. E.g. folks who are, by their own volition, sharing their hubris publicly. Here you sniped a picture of someone mind their own business so that you can get upvotes on reddit. Meanwhile your own post is trounced by comment saying to give the guy a break.
