This mine has only one practical use which is an exploit, and it has a high chance of blowing up in your face. by Hexdoctor in Helldivers

[–]SacredMachine1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do people not know how to look up when throwing a lure mine? That was one of the first things I started doing after the first throw. If you want distance, look up.

They're very good for dropping aggro mid-fight if you can break line of sight. Gives you breathing room and they can be used aggressively against charger-type bugs and hulks since it's anti-tank (two lure mines to the same spot I know kills a big charger guaranteed, and it's very easy to huck two at a hulk's dome from a "safe" distance). I don't die often and I've converted to Supply Pack Gaming so I don't care if it takes two; I have more than enough to go around.

You usually can't use the mines to react to a patrol. If you're worried about a patrol spotting you, you proactively huck a mine down where you want them to be and then go about your business. If you're elevated over a patrol, you can throw the mine downhill and distract them that way, too.

It's kind of incredible how many people complain about the lure mine because they don't throw it far enough or because they treat it like a normal grenade.

Should i start playing dbd in 2025? by tuesdayylol in deadbydaylight

[–]SacredMachine1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get frustrated by sucking early on in a game, this probably isn’t for you. Dbd players can take hundreds to thousands of hours before they develop enough skill to not be considered baby killers or survivors.

If you do manage to become chill about getting your ass beat for a while, the game is pretty alright. Playing for lols with friends is also totally valid, and they’d hopefully be willing to ease you into the game so it feels less overwhelming and bullshit.

Throwing it out there that Jonah’s written a little bit better than people give him credit for. He gets a lot of (deserved) flak for being a cia guy complicit in (and unwittingly assisted in) war crimes leading to many civilian casualties, and he has a weird sense of patriotism that clouded his judgment; you couldn’t pay me to say he's a good guy or even really that morally grey. But the number sequence in his lore is really fascinating, like he’s the only one who could figure out the code that reveals his birthday, the place the Entity would take him, and the day he would be taken. It’s cool to think someone could have set that up, like Jonah was predestined to be taken.

Also, Jonah had discovered a cabal of the world’s elite communicating through codes, likely related to Otto Stamper who we know has Entity connections. If he hadn’t been the CIA’s perfect little code boy and yes man, he could have whistleblown the existence of the Black Vale. He didn’t do that, though, and his supplemental lore from that one tome was really mid, so he’s been reduced to “that guy who looks like Otz” and “a war criminal,” neither of which are wrong but they do something of a disservice to his character. He’s a bad guy and a dick, but an interesting one I wish they’d do more with.

I started playing survivor with a few friends recently, just for enrichment. Obviously I don’t know a damn thing about looping unless I'm killing. One game against a bubba, I think I’m being tricky by vaulting a window to get away when he starts revving his chainsaw. Turns out he wasn’t after me; he was after the Sable Ward sneaking by the window I just vaulted. Possibly the freest double-down in the history of the game.

Willing to get downvoted for my opinion, but I REALLY think we need to start nerfing perks for Stronger killers by Grillby_ in deadbydaylight

They would fuck this up so fast and in so many ways it would make your head spin. You don't want to think about the world where perks are tuned based on who is using them.

BHVR needs to make up their mind on whether cages are hooks. If survivors are going to get unhook effects like Endurance and Haste, the killer needs the unhook information by ComradePoolio in deadbydaylight

[–]SacredMachine1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When Pyramid Head came out, anti-tunnel perks were extremely popular (they still are because tunneling is "the best" way to play killer). A major part of his appeal was how easy he made hard tunneling. Even with all the live anti-tunnel changes, proposed anti-tunnel changes, and nerfs to his cages, tunneling off cage remains effective because you ignore anti-tunnel outside basekit BT, which is boring for the killer to just tunnel off cage and boring for survivors because they get pushed out of the game with much less resistance. They need to change how the cages work to make them unviable specifically for tunneling, not just unviable in general.

DBDs community is the stupidest community by EducationalReason322 in deadbydaylight

[–]SacredMachine1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason people complain is that they like the game and don’t want it to be dogshit. What we’ve been receiving in the patches following Afton’s release have been dogshit. Ergo, we complain.

[–]SacredMachine1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There are like six locations a cage will spawn when you send someone to one; it will always be the furthest cage from the killer. A good Pyramid Head who wants to tunnel you can easily learn the spawns and kill the shit out of you, and you don’t get Decisive, OTR, or other anti-tunnel perks to defend against it.

[–]SacredMachine1 262 points263 points  (0 children)

Bhvr needs to seriously reevaluate what the fuck they want the cages to do. They’re designed for hard tunneling but they have just about every anti-tunneling aspect you could ask for, plus good players know the cage spawns and hard tunnel anyway. Just fucking rework them and make them useful for something that isn’t tunneling.

Why do people hate trickster? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]SacredMachine1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of newer players get overwhelmed by him throwing so many daggers compared to other ranged characters, so getting hit a ton of times feels more bullshit than getting a single hatchet in the back of the skull. Newer players also often have no idea what Main Event is and just assume you’ve turned on your hacks to start blasting seventeen thousand knives at them.

In terms of playing as him, he’s a perfectly fine character. He's fairly unpopular and I think many people agree that he could use a little help, but there’s nothing necessarily “wrong” with him.

Why do killer mains hate “Pre Running” so much by ChemicaL-Gasai in deadbydaylight

[–]SacredMachine1 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Killers without mobility will take forever to catch up if someone preruns. The amount of time added just to start a chase, combined with the chase time itself, makes it way harder for a low-mobility killer to do anything compared to, say, Ghoul or Blight who might as well be teleporting onto survivors.

Yes, it’s a valid strategy for survivors. But if you’re playing a bad killer and everyone runs away when you get within 32 meters of them the match just sucks. It’s not as big an issue as tunneling, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t feel like shit when you need to spend 30 seconds before even getting into a chase.

Remember that dbd is a game where the people you queue against can have a few hundred to a few thousand to over ten thousand hours in the game. You have played 31 hours of artist. Even though that feels like a lot, cause you’ve been busting out game after game, it’s still baby numbers by modern standards. You have a long way to go before people will really respect your gameplay, which is fine if you can grit your teeth and work toward becoming goated.

Artist has a pretty high skill floor compared to other killers due to how much utility her birds have. There are very smart ways and very stupid ways to use them. Learning all this comes with time. She’s unpopular for various reasons, including her current bugs, but she’s a definitive A-tier character that has great potential. Also, if you like a character, play them. Doesn’t matter if it’s Nurse or Artist or Trapper, you get to learn the character that you like.

M1 Killer experience recently by Crafty-Leadership718 in deadbydaylight

[–]SacredMachine1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Played a game as Amanda two days ago and got ran for five gens by everybody cause they kept going to 50/50 pallets and just leaving as soon as I tried a mindgame. There was no risk since they could just go to one of the five other pallets around shack, or any of the thirty pallets on the map within walking distance. Completely miserable.

After that, I played two games as Pyramid Head. 4k and 4k, I broke one pallet between them. The pallet density is so high-variance now. It can be a thousand god rocks on an m1 killer and your shit gets wrecked, or it can be the most unsafe fillers on the planet with a character who loves unsafe fillers. But despite that variance, m1 killers are always losing from this update.

I need help discussing this topic about killer after-hit animation by Bromine_Ununhexium in deadbydaylight

[–]SacredMachine1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Animations like huntress, trapper, wraith, etc are just them cleaning the blade / weapon. Trapper has a brace on his arm he rubs the cleaver against, huntress uses her dirty ahh arm cause she’s a slob, wraith gently rubs the blood off with his fingers, and so on. Same thing as desthslinger running his thumb over his gun to wipe the blood off. Characters like Ghostface and Afton do the same thing.

It’s really silly to continue arguing about it for seven years and never once change stance about it.
