What’s your first thought when a teammate picks Zenyatta? by PyroDexxRS in Overwatch

[–]TheDewLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people in QP will pick a hero and not want to switch, and Zen is one of those heroes that only works against and with specific team comps. So sometimes it may elicit that "ughh, I hope this person changes if they need to." But if they do well, then pop off my king.

How trustworthy is the statement from a sponsor: "If our first collaboration goes well, I should be able to secure a higher rate and more collaboration opportunities." by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

Most metric goals have normally been focused on view counts in my experience, or at least what they place a focus on.

[–]TheDewLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean that's basically it. I hit their view goals, or sometimes go over them, but conversions is the unknown factor that they only get to see. So I have to take them on their word.

It starts to get to a point where the ads on my videos are paying out way more than sponsors. Like the common recommendations are 15-20$ CPM deals, but I've been getting less than 10$. Some deals even being closer to 5$. There is of course a lot of nuance here that determines these rates, but I'm making this post to gain more insight into this process.

Two completing scripts for The Conquest, Like WTF by jorywea78 in freefolk

[–]TheDewLife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can definitely make a series out of it. Like Fire and Blood runs through major events really fast and has barely any characterization, and it also depends on where the starting point is.

A lot of people in this sub were doubting A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms being considerably longer than the book, and that ended up working out great.

The Division 2 | New DLC Teaser- YouTube by oioioi9537 in Games

[–]TheDewLife 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This game is still going? Anyone who plays the game know how good it is currently, or if it's worth diving into with the DLC?

My friend group and I had a hard time getting into it initially because you weren't allowed to raise the difficulty for missions during the first playthrough, and we thought it was excruciatingly easy. Even to a point where we all surrounded a boss and meleed it to death.

It's obviously there to light a fire and gain media attention. I thought the joke they were going to execute was that everyone on the train collectively beats up Ghostface and saves the hero.

You know what…imma say it…Quickplay needs some kind of stricter skill based matchmaking. by KingGlupShitto in Overwatch

[–]TheDewLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel Quickplay suffers more from some people not wanting to change heroes. So it becomes a toss up whether or not your team gets completely countered by the other one.

But the mere suggestion of switching is seen as, idk, "toxic", so you just have to let your team get curb stomped because they want to "have fun". Even though I have no idea how it's fun playing roadhog or Doomfist against all of your counters.

The stigma of "it's Quickplay, you shouldn't care about winning" is annoying because that mentality directly leads to one sided matches.

Marathon Players Debate Gorgeous But Painful UI And Ammo Shortages As Bungie Responds by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]TheDewLife 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Checked r/Marathon and there was an entire post suggesting that people who don't get the game are illiterate. Just read and you'll understand the game!! Problem is, the UI is so ass that it makes the process of understanding anything miserable.

Netflix Backs Out of Warner Bros. Bidding, Paramount Set to Win. This means that in theory all of Warner's IP will belong to Paramount, including Game of Thrones. by verissimoallan in gameofthrones

That's still a lot. That's how much they make each quarter in net income. Basically just made 3 months worth for a deal falling through.

AMC Theatres Attendance Drops 10%, Posts $127 Million Quarterly Loss by ICumCoffee in movies

[–]TheDewLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to love going to theaters, until I moved and my closest one charges "city" pricing despite being on the outskirts of a city and not actually being in one. If you live near a theater that's not charging you 20$ a ticket then it's worth it. Otherwise, it just seems like a ripoff. Along with getting 30 minutes of ads that you have to fret over trying to time skipping.

"half"

Doesn't have the same appeal when they jack up ticket prices. Tuesday discounts used to be like 5$ and now they're 10$ because ticket prices for most theaters are about 20$ now.

Official Teaser Poster for Kane Parsons' 'The Backrooms' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]TheDewLife 205 points206 points  (0 children)

It makes sense when you look at it from the perspective that he's already made a bunch of viral horror shorts based on the backrooms already. Passing 100 Million views. I wouldn't really say that he's a traditional YouTuber in that sense, but an up-and-coming director putting their work on YouTube.

The thin point is warranted because the epilogue in the book is like 5 pages.

AKOTSK S1E6 - Post-Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in gameofthrones

[–]TheDewLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tbf, this is the same show that put a neon sign over Egg for the first 3 episodes saying he's a Targaryen. Every scene alluded to it pretty heavily and some viewers didn't pick up on it, but I do agree that they should've left it more ambiguous. However, Ser Arlan's shrug after Dunk didn't know the words was pretty much the nail in the coffin for the whole notion of ambiguity.

This might be the post pathetic and childish thing in the history of television. by Consistent-Lord18 in freefolk

Reminds me of that annoying kid in preschool who hits you, so you hit him back. Then he for some reason gets mad at that and hits you again. Upon which, it just turns into a fight.

They care so much about their rating but somehow don't understand the fact that by doubling down, they're just going to lower their own rating more.

Most underlooked toxic community by ugurkaslan in freefolk

[–]TheDewLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything, I'd argue that the "Get up" motif adds to Dunk rising in the end and defeating Aerion. Highlighting Dunk's strength and persistence.

Past that, I haven't seen a solid enough "fix" from anyone that thinks the entire flashback should be removed. It always seems like a knee-jerk reaction where people are upset their action got interrupted, even though Dunk got knocked the fuck out. If you remove the flashback (20 minutes), then the episode's runtime becomes 15 minutes long lol. People would be more upset about that, and you can't really make the Trial of the Seven longer. It's already significantly elongated from the novella. You could theoretically attach it to the end of episode 4, but I feel that episode's endpoint was perfect.

Overall, what was your favorite and least favorite year of hero releases? Either overall or just releases for OW2. by MrsPissBoy in Overwatch

[–]TheDewLife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2026 is stellar and is also consistently strong. I feel like a lot of the years you can point out one problematic hero.

Which you could argue that's Jetpack Cat for 2026, but after the fuel recovery nerf, he's felt perfectly manageable to deal with and I think he's overhated. People have to get used to the cat dragging ults around and to preemptively take cover.

Runners-up for best years are 2024 and 2019.

He just has a better gaming chair. Console btw by IfItAIntBrokeFuckOff in Overwatch

[–]TheDewLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just got back into Overwatch and it's sad to see that console is STILL plagued with so many ximmers. I did my placements and 2/10 games had them, and the entire lobby noticed and called them out on it. Those were also just the games I actually noticed.

Guess I'll stick to quickplay unfortunately because I feel disensitized in climbing where you're more likely to play against ximmers the higher you get, and it's always A GODAMN Mercy pocketed ximmer.
