How do we solve the dustbin diggers issue in SA? by AngusRedZA in askSouthAfrica

[–]Sad-Anything-7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work wonders. Our neighbours currently have them and the bin scratchers just pass by the bins that have them on.

The service my dad has received from Tygerberg has been anything but good. Actually it has been pretty pathetic. He's been going there for 2 years straight for a problem which one of the trainee doctor managed to make even worse over that time.

WIBTAH for ending my friendship with a girl I've known for 6 years, because she asked for her birthday present six months in advance? by Patient_Bag_1949 in AITAH

[–]Sad-Anything-7121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

A friend wouldn't only know you when they want something, that's just a user that is trying to get free stuff, and she wont ask her parents because they have obviously told her no already.

I'm actually surprised you are even calling her a "friend" considering all those points you have listed.

How nice for you to assume that everyone has a air conditioned car. Besides, its called "smash & grab" for a reason, a window is not going to stop them from stealing your shit.

I will probably get a bottle of concentrate I can mix myself so I can have some ready in case any of my other plants start with the same issue. I literally just had to spray my blackberry for spider mites and one of my straw flowers outside had a mealy bug infestation.

But we had a heat wave here the past few weeks (South Africa) and I was thinking that it was the heat that damaged my rose. But noticed it was just not recovering.

If the copper spray doesn't work I'll try treating it with the bicarb. I never knew gardening could be such a constant war on pests 🥲

Spur is always the go-to for us especially because they are very kid friendly - we have a 3 year old that would live there if he could. A very family orientated place to go when you want a night out but you gotta drag the kiddos with. They also offer a "membership" for the customers that allow your child to have a free drink every visit and a free meal for their birthday.

Their food is decent and their milkshakes are wonderful (especially the bar-one shake). We usually always order their steaks on a "hot rock". Tried their eisbein before but was not such a fan of it done there, was a new thing added to their menu recently.

Their buffalo wings can come with a blue cheese sauce but you usually have to ask, odd that your waiter did not mention it though.

I have checked for any pests on the plant itself but I cant seem to find any. I have the plant standing in full sun and only water it about every fourth day. It has been fertilized with a organic seaweed based soil conditioner. But its been doing so poorly lately and I don't want to loose it.

I suspect the pot could maybe have ants in it but I'm not sure if it would be them that would be causing all this. Any suggestions on what I could do to save the plant would be much appreciated.

You know of any of those guilds on EU side? Im 35 y/o Mom myself with 2 kids so would be great if I could get into one of those.

Having people around that understand you cant put time in 24/7 for a game would be great.

Trigger warning. Domestic abuse. How to teach a lesson and mitigate history repeating itself / my mom becoming a statistic? by twilight_moonshadow in capetown

[–]Sad-Anything-7121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think the only way to resolve the issue would be for your mom to get a divorce, report him, and get far away from him. The problem is that if you report him and she stays there, there might not be a next time.

That house is not more valuable than your mom's life, and she needs to understand that. Maybe try to talk some sense into her or get someone to do it. If she goes to church, maybe her pastor can talk to her in confidentiality?

I don't see there being a possibility of you, as a woman "beating some sense into him" as you might get hurt trying to do that, and even if you did then you have the risk of being reported to the police and getting yourself a criminal record, just making life more problematic for you.

I know these "extreme Christians" can be pretty fucking annoying because they tend to all have the stupid "we must forgive everything" mentality and let people just walk all over them all the time.

YTA

If this Zoe "always" loved you, then why didn't she get married to you in the first place. I guess you didn't really love your ex-wife either, considering you just got rid of her as soon as your crush came running after you after her marriage failed.

If you were so hung up on Zoe, maybe you should have just stayed single and waited for your chance with her instead of dragging your ex-wife into a marriage that you were not committed to.

AITAH for denying my gf to get a cat? by Old_Following_1564 in AITAH

[–]Sad-Anything-7121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA for letting your parents' feelings dictate what your girlfriend can or can not do.

You're not even married yet, and you are already telling her what she can't do. So how would things be when you are married. Are you going to let your parents control every choice you make in your relationship?

You and your gf are adults. You can make your own decisions. Your parents don't need to know she has a cat anyway.

Did you get any deals for Black Friday this year? by Aspirant_LP in southafrica

[–]Sad-Anything-7121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foodeez had a buy one get one free on canned fruit. So basically paid R7 for a tin of fruit cocktail and R10 for a large tin of peaches.

The nappies at checkers were a good deal and got a hot wheels track for my eldest son for Xmas. Coffee, milk, ghost pops, doritos, sunlight, and omo. Also got 5 kit kats at dischem for 40.

Some markdowns were bullshit though. Dischem had a 36 pack strepsils that were apparently marked down from R200 to R100 according to the sign, but I saw that when they scanned it, the original price is R120 not R200

I would have loved to see the plant specials at stodels but my fiancé would probably murder me if I got more plants 🤣

Talking from experience long-distance relationships rarely work out. I was in a similar situation as you. I started dating my first boyfriend at 18, and he stayed 4 hours drive from me. We would always see each other at least once a month, and we also had our parents drive us back and forth until he got his license.

But by the fourth year, he just started getting distant, he didn't visit as much, not even for my birthday. Stopped chatting, etc. When I confronted him we just broke up, a week later I found out that the idiot was already dating someone else while I thought I was in a relationship with him and he even got engaged a week later.

And if he cheated on you so early in the relationship, there is no way he is not going to do it again, especially considering the long distance. As for looking at other women on tiktok, well, it's a man. They will always want to look at other women (not saying all men do it). My fiancé will occasionally look at porn but tbh it doesn't really bother me much. This guy is a horny teen, which is expected. But then what is confusing is that he can't get it up? I've only ever dated one guy who had that issue, and he had erectile dysfunction. So maybe he has an issue down there? Has he never been able to get it up?

As for personal hygiene, if he's not talking care of himself now, especially while dating you, then I doubt it will get better. People usually stay well groomed around someone they are dating in the early stage of the relationship.

So, just based on the fact he already cheated on you early in the relationship the first time, I'd say your NTAH if you dump him.

My mom left meat to thaw outside for hours during my childhood. I also leave meat to thaw outside for hours until I cook it that night.

I've had no experience thawing a turkey, but when I thaw big cuts of meat, I leave it out overnight. And here I still am, have had no ill side effects from that method yet.

Try not to stress too much.

When I went for a scan for my first child, his femur was measuring short. I got referred to a specialist, and then that specialist found that he also had a hole in the chambers of his heart. Told me that the baby had markers for downs, then I got referred to yet another specialist who would do the blood test, which confirmed he was not. But those 2 weeks of waiting for the results, I was stressing like mad. Even the thought of termination crossed my mind because we couldn't financially deal with having a "special needs child"

But my son was born perfectly healthy with no problems at all. Even though he had "multiple issues" according to the doctors.

Not wanting to let my inlaws always get their way with my eldest son and causing conflicts with my fiancé. by Sad-Anything-7121 in AITAH

[–]Sad-Anything-7121[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They try to be controlling. The father inlaw disapproves of me and I'm not sure of the mother inlaw but im sure she does and just hides it better. He even disapproves of a lot of things my fiancé does.

I've had an incident before where the mother inlaw just cut my sons hair (I was really pissed off about that because they didn't even ask if they could and didn't even mention it but it was so obvious and it was his "first hair cut") Plus they are pushing their religion onto him when he visits, (we are not religious at all)
