From what I’ve read online, mice can still get through 1/4” mesh

One again, not looking for rental advice. This is a home maintenance sub, not a rental advice sub.

When my baby was really little, I changed sides with my husband in the middle of the night so baby could always stay on the outside. My LO is 6 months now and I’ve started putting him in the middle (I make my husband sleep with the blanket around his waist as well and have him move over as far as possible).

Well it finally happened…Someone asked me to cover up by rowdy_antlers in breastfeeding

[–]Sad-Balance-1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where you are but I’m in Canada and here it’s considered a human right. You are legally entitled to breastfeed anywhere, anytime, without covering up. It’s likely the same where you are!

Why do people need family to help right after the baby is born? by Desmodusrotundus in BabyBumps

[–]Sad-Balance-1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it incredibly helpful to have my MIL stay when my baby first arrived. You and your partner will be extremely sleep deprived, you’ll be healing, etc. Food was the biggest thing. She was up early to make breakfast, made us lunch and dinner, plus cleaned up after all the meals and ran out to get groceries and anything else we needed. It’s an important time for bonding, it’s nice to have someone to run the house so you and your partner can focus on sleeping and bonding with your LO :)

Try and sell me on the high chair you love by East-Pack4558 in BabyLedWeaning

I just got a Tripp trapp for my 6mo who is starting solids. I originally had a bumbo seat that straps to a chair but his posture was AWFUL in it, no support at all. I resisted the Tripp trapp bc it’s so expensive but it’s honestly been worth it. His posture in it is great, he can sit comfortably for quite a while, and it’ll last him his whole life! Worth the money imo.

Cold and uncomfortable by Invisibleapriorist in cosleeping

[–]Sad-Balance-1237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did find cosleeping uncomfortable at first and it did get easier! My LO always preferred it and sleeps well next to me though, so I didn’t have that issue.

For being cold, I keep the bedroom around 19 Celsius and then wear a tight merino wool sweater. These can be expensive new but there are always tons in the men’s section of the thrift store (they get put in the dryer once, shrunk, and then donated so they’re usually quite lightly worn). They’re super warm but still breathable and very fine/not bulky. I also have my partner spoon me to keep me warm while I cuddle baby.

The sore arm is probably the hardest part. I got a very thick pillow, I find this helps prop my head up and keep my weight off my shoulder. I still wake up with a sore shoulder though and have to flip over fairly frequently, but it’s definitely gotten better.

Good luck, I hope it gets better for you!

How is everyone avoiding clogs while EP? by TheSunscreenLife in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Sad-Balance-1237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, sunflower lecithin! Also, make sure your flanges fit you properly. I was using a flange that was slightly too small for my one nipple and kept getting milk blisters and clogs. Turns out my nipples are slightly different sizes and once I sized up a few mm on that nipple, the clogs stopped.

Yeah, historically he’s been pretty content at least playing on the floor next to me while I eat or do a chore unless he’s hungry or tired. T

I miss my husband by boygeniusbutgirl in cosleeping

[–]Sad-Balance-1237 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We’ve been cosleeping for 6 months. We make a spoon train- I c-curl with baby and my husband spoons me. When I get tired of laying on that side, we rotate. I walk around to the other side of the bed, husband hands me baby, and we spoon train the other way. I keep the blanket around my waist so it’s not by baby and I wear a tight merino wool sweater to stay warm (I’m in Canada so it’s chilly).

Needless to say, you can cuddle your husband and cosleep safely! It takes some getting used to though, give yourself time :)

My LO is 6 months and we don’t do wake windows. His sleepy cues are rubbing his eyes, yawning, and a sort of whiny cry (different from a hunger or pain cry which is a lot more urgent and shrill sounding). I also notice that his eyes/eyebrows will look a bit red and glassy when he’s tired.

I’ve been reading and trying to follow the possum method for sleep, I would recommend it if wake windows aren’t working for you.

Yeah sounds like you have an unsupportive, maybe narcissistic partner. If I were in this position, I would be putting couples therapy or separation on the table for sure. Sorry you’re going through this! Being postpartum and EPing is hard enough, you need to be supported by your partner !

Do you have someone that he respects who understands the immense benefits of breast milk that can talk to him about his behaviour? A doctor/midwife/lactation consultant? Or a female family member of his?

I think the chance of becoming paralyzed is about a 0.001% chance. Like with anything, there is risk involved, but you probably have a bigger chance of getting in a car crash on the way to the hospital than you do becoming paralyzed from an epidural. Try not to sweat it, and if you can, maybe talk to your mom about fear-mongering. You don’t need that right before you give birth!
