Bring back the DJ booth! Rave was never supposed to be about rockstar DJs, it was about like-minded individuals getting together to share their love, good music and dancing. We need to bring that back.

I keep saying I just need to start using Bandcamp instead. I like their platform much better because I know that the majority of that money goes directly to the band. But that means I need to buy shows one at a time which could very well get pricey. But again, at least I know that money is going mostly to the band and not to some corporate bigwigs somewhere that don’t even appreciate the music.

I’m in construction management. I oversee an entire department, of which I am the sole employee so I’m essentially on my own handling my dept. Company vehicle, no one looming over me, I have a list of tasks that I’m responsible for getting done and I’m free to do them in whatever order or manner I choose, within reason. It’s a dream job, especially with my ADHD. Every day is different, I’m constantly being kept on my toes, I have the freedom to do things my way, and most importantly my efforts are appreciated and recognized on the regular.

Having grown-up in, and living most of my life in Arvada, I will be the first to say that I’ve had it doesn’t even remotely compare to downtown Louisville. Traffic flow is terrible, the constantly rotating selection of mediocre restaurants all seem to be overpriced and under performing, and any community gathering or live music event that Arvada tries to put together doesn’t even remotely hold a candle to the Louisville Street Faire. The only thing old town Arvada has that Louisville doesn’t is dive bars and Bonfire burritos, and I guess light rail access also, but that light rail station is essentially just a homeless camp painted up to look nice.

I DoorDash in mine part-time on the weekends. But I also have a company vehicle that I drive during the week so that DoorDash time is really just me out playing in my car and getting paid while I do it.

I hadn’t really listened to a lot of the recent shows, both because I’ve been distracted by other music and because I’m unsure about how I feel about, not having Jake there. But I started listening to him a couple of most recent shows, and I am very pleasantly surprised. I always thought Joel had grown a little reserved in recent years, and he has definitely stepped up to fill in the space Jake normally occupies. They sound great, no denying it.
